Robb grew up in North Wales, the land of ancient kings, (although not ones taught in school) Roman ruins, and the stories that inspired the Foundation of the Dragon series. He knows the word hiraeth, a longing for home, intimately, having spent nearly thirty years travelling to over a hundred countries—working as an off-road expedition guide, English teacher, journalist, and occasional race car driver—before the deep history of his homeland pulled him back. That same instinct for hard ground and harder living is what brings the grit and glory of Celtic and Dark Age Britain to life on the page. His research takes him from the brooding mountains of Snowdonia to the battlefields of the Roman Empire, and the years spent reading landscapes, cultures, and people in the real world are exactly what let him render this lost one so vividly. Before he turned to historical fiction, Robb honed his craft as a writer and photographer, test-driving classic Porsches and Ferraris for a living. When he's not digging through ancient history or on the road, he lives in Prague with his wife in the winter and travels around Wales in the summer, writing where the books are set. His first series, Foundation of the Dragon, is rooted in the real events of Rome's conquest and the legends of Arthur. It tells the story of Britain from the Welsh perspective, a perspective overlooked for too long, bringing a brutal, character-driven authenticity to one of history's most turbulent periods.
