Rosy Hugener was born and raised in Mexico and is a descendant of one of the most prominent families in Yucatán, a lineage that has included governors, senators, bishops, historians, and journalists. Members of her family participated in many of the historical events described in her first book, Xtabentum: A Novel of Yucatán, giving her work a deeply personal connection to the region’s history, culture, and legacy.
