Sangharakshita is the founder of Triratna (formerly the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order - FWBO), a worldwide Buddhist movement. He was born Dennis Lingwood in South London, in 1925 but became the Buddhist monk Sangharakshita shortly after the Second World War. His name means simply 'one who is protected by the sangha (the community of Buddhist monks and nuns)'. He is the author of over 40 books ranging from introductions to Buddhism to translations of ancient scripts. His most recently published book is 'Living Ethically' (2009) and has a new title 'Living Wisely' expected in February 2013.
