Steve Dudrow is a storyteller, visual artist, and passionate advocate for creativity and public lands. Whether capturing the quiet poetry of the night sky, exploring color and texture through mixed media, or sparking conversations on his podcasts The Art Box and Calder Blackwell Alternate Realms, Steve’s work celebrates curiosity, wonder, and the beauty of the natural world. A resident of Mesquite, Nevada since 2016, Steve lives happily with his wife of 52 years, Gwen. He is the author of eight children’s books, including the beloved Teddy’s Adventures and Birdie Learns series, which blend imagination, learning, and heartfelt values. His creative journey has taken him into America’s wild places as an Artist in Residence at both Capitol Reef National Park and the Mystery Ranch in Avi Kwa Ame National Monument. Beyond writing and art, Steve is deeply committed to conservation and education. He volunteers as an archaeological steward, certified interpretive guide, and endangered species monitor. In his hometown, he champions youth and community creativity, serving as Chair of the Mesquite Works STEAM Center and as a commissioner and advisor for public arts and community development initiatives. Through each project, Steve hopes to nurture curiosity, ignite creativity, and remind readers, young and old, that the world is full of magic, discovery, and stories waiting to be told.
