In 2005, Tim Harwood broadcast his first Waterloo Black Hawks game. Since then, he has brought fans the latest news and information about the team with live play-by-play on radio and the web. In 2019, the team recognized his efforts by presenting him with the Karen Wente Distinguished Service Award. He has also earned recognition from the Iowa Broadcast News Association. Away from the rink, he has covered other teams in northeast Iowa, including the University of Northern Iowa's soccer program. Find occasional articles by Harwood in Iowa History Journal and other publications. He also talks with Cedar Valley newsmakers weekday mornings on KXEL-AM. The Valparaiso University graduate researched several books on sports in Waterloo, beginning with Black Hawks Chronicle in 2011, in time for the team's 50th season.
