About this listen

Sometimes the only way to embrace tomorrow is to let go of the past.

Architect Nick Sinclair has just received the commission of a lifetime. Designing the new regional arts center is a plum job that could launch his firm into the big time. There’s just one catch. The arts center board wants a no-name landscaping company to design the grounds.

Landscaper Laura Taylor has poured blood, sweat, and tears into establishing her business, and she’s determined to succeed when she’s tapped to handle the arts center job. As she works to prove to Nick that she’s up to the task, sparks begin to fly—but a past trauma has convinced her that playing it safe with her heart is the wise course.

Nick has no trouble picking up Laura’s keep-your-distance signals, but as he gets to know her, his usual no-strings, play-the-field style becomes less and less appealing. In fact, she makes him long for a wife, family, and white-picket-fence life. But can he convince her to take a second chance on love?

In A Place to Call Home, bestselling author Irene Hannon delivers a sweet, touching story about two people overcoming a legacy of shattered trust and finding their own happily ever after.

Was really pleased when I found that yet another series by this author was becoming available on Audible I’ve had book 2 for a while as that came out first so decided to hold off until the first book came out last week. Again like everything I have read by this author this one did not disappoint and I really enjoyed it.

The circle of friends series is based on a group of friends who are all linked Brad and his sister Rebecca, there childhood friend Laura and Laura’s best friend Samantha or Sam as she’s known. The first book was Laura’s story and like everything by this author I really enjoyed it.

I felt for Laura and what she’d been through and I loved her friendship with Sam and how Sam was determined to help her come out of herself again. Nick although a bit unsure at the start quickly came around and grew to respect Laura. I liked how he was determined to support her and help her to learn to trust again after what she’d been through. I’m really looking forward to reading Sam and Brads story in book two and to Rebeccas story when it comes out in a couple of months.

Therese Plummer who reads a lot of this authors work as usual did a good job, she’s very good at giving the characters different voices and her gentle reading tone really suits this type of book. I really like the way she brought the story and characters to life and produced emotion when required. I’ve heard a lot of books narrated by her and I’ve never been disappointed with the way she’d read the book. I’m glad she’s reading the other two books in the series as well.

This author never disappoints.
