About this listen

The boy she loved is now the billionaire who could change everything.

Laura Burton has spent years keeping her world together—saving lives as a paramedic, raising her son, and guarding the secret gift that once set her apart. But when Carter Price—her first love and the boy who broke every promise—comes crashing back into her life, nothing feels safe anymore.

He’s richer. Hotter. More dangerous to her heart than ever. And when he offers her a deal she can’t refuse, saying yes might be the biggest risk she’s ever taken.

Because Carter isn’t just looking for help with his recovery… he wants a second chance. And Laura is about to learn that sometimes, the real miracle isn’t healing others—it’s finding the courage to let yourself be loved again.

A steamy, second-chance romance full of slow-burn tension, forbidden longing, and the kind of first love you never forget.

Laura can heal people, its her secret and its what drove her to join the medical field. Only a broken marriage and a little boy has caused her to pause her long term plans. Ex high school boyfriend Carter makes a surprise appearance and brings back some feelings she didn't think she'd have again.
I did struggle to like Laura for a while, she seemed determined to be a martyr when it came to being a single parent, refusing any help offered even if it made her life even harder. She was also very judgemental when it came to Carter.
I enjoyed watching Carter trying to get to know Laura again, but boy did she make it hard work for him.
For me, this book is too long for the storyline content, but it does give you chance to get to know that characters a whole lot more. Saying that, the ending felt rushed after everything Laura and Carter had to go through to be together, I would have liked to see more of how their life together looked rather a quick wrap up in the epilogue.
Narrator Frances Anderson does a great job overall. However I did sometimes struggle knowing who was talking in some conversations as the voice distinction was minimal.

I loved the narration of Frances Anderson, bringing the characters and plot all together. Making this a great listen,

Carter and Laura have a painful history, but fate has brought them together again for a second chance. Carter made some awful decisions as a teen. Laura has a young son, she also a true healer and is a paramedic.

These two are meant be together. Loved this story.
