About this listen
GRITTY. RAW. A LITTLE EDGIER THAN THE AVERAGE HOCKEY ROM-COM
I don’t want Casey Alderchuck, but I don’t want anyone else to have him either.
My hook-up for the night wasn’t supposed to be my long-time hockey rival, but here he is. I’m too worked up to let him go home without having a taste. One little bite of that smart mouth is mine for the taking after how many times he’s broken my nose. How was I supposed to know that I’d crave Alderchuck with the desperation of a starved man?
I’m always one bad day from an explosion, but since I hooked up with Alderchuck, my body’s constantly on fire. I’m thinking about things I haven’t in a long time. He’s dredged years of buried torment to the surface. The cure? Alderchuck.
My poison is my cure. How poetic. At least he can’t keep his hands off me and our burning hatred is mutual. The flavor’s gotta wear off at some point, and that’s when we’ll go our separate ways.
Until then, I’ll come up with every way imaginable to wreck him from the inside out. Use him up till there’s nothing left. But I’m nothing if not territorial and protective.
My instincts decide that Casey Alderchuck is mine and they pull him closer. My damn heart’s a traitor, too, trying to break the locks I put around it to let him inside. But I can’t let it win.
Loving people like I would love Casey means risking the fragile sanity I’ve worked so hard to preserve.
Breakneck Hockey is a rivals-to-lovers story with some hurt-comfort, along with other vibes, like; I Can Hurt Him but You Can’t, Major Jealousy, Just Because I Say I Don’t Want Him, Doesn’t Mean You Can Have Him, Possessiveness Galore, a Morally Gray MC and, as always in this series, Found Family.

A raw, passionate, and unforgettable hockey romance—brought to life by two narrators who embody their characters to perfection.
Alderchuck is the kind of man who wears his pain like armor—brutal on the ice, guarded off it, and aching for something he can barely name. Sutter, on the other hand, is all stoic and grit, a relentless force who crashes through life with intensity and purpose, but carries quiet emotional depth beneath the dominance.
The dynamic between these two is electric. Their rivalry on the ice is fierce and unrelenting, each hit and clash charged with unresolved tension. But off the ice? That’s where the real magic happens. The passion between them is rough, raw, and unexpectedly tender, laced with vulnerability and need. Their emotional push-and-pull kept me breathless, and the way their relationship unfolded felt both visceral and deeply human.
One of the most poignant touches was the presence of Sutter’s father, symbolized through the Canadian pennies—a subtle but powerful detail that added emotional weight and continuity. It grounded Sutter’s character in memory and legacy, and gave their story a quiet echo of grief and love. Alderchuck’s complexity was another highlight: his emotional needs, his fear of softness, and the way he slowly unraveled in Sutter’s presence were beautifully written. This story is a masterpiece of character-driven romance, with just the right balance of grit, heat, and heart.
And the narration? Phenomenal. Oliver Highpoint gave Alderchuck a voice that matched his emotional depth—steady, simmering, and full of restrained intensity. But Sebastian York as Sutter? That growl. It did things to my body I’m not even sure I can legally describe. His voice was pure seduction, but also carried the emotional nuance that made Sutter feel real. Both narrators gave each character—main and supporting—a distinct tone and rhythm, making the audiobook feel like a full-cast performance. It’s one of those rare listens where the voices elevate the story to something unforgettable.
If you love enemies-to-lovers, hockey grit, and emot*ionally rich MM romance*, “Breakneck Hockey” will absolutely wreck you—in the best way.
