Enter the mysterious and exotic world of Kelewan…

Mara, the youngest child of the ancient and noble Acoma family, is about to take her pledge of servitude to the goddess Lashima when the ceremony is disrupted by news of her father and brother’s death in battle.

Despite her grief, as the only surviving member of her house, Mara must now take up the mantles of Ruling Lady. But she soon discovers betrayal at the heart of her family’s loss, and the Acoma’s enemies have brought her house to the brink of utter destruction.

Mara, an inexperienced political player, must draw on all her wit, intelligence and cunning to navigate the ruthless Game of the Council, regain the honour of House Acoma and secure the future of her family. But with assassins waiting around every corner, it might take everything Mara has simply to survive.

A very well written story of power, intrigue and ruthless blood sport. strong character depth and description. Feist and Wurtz bring the world to you in great detail. Servant and Mistress are a must listen after this!!

Lush, vibrant, colourful and a great story to boot

Feist has a lot of books, some good some less so, but Daughter of the Empire and the Empire Trilogy as a whole top the lot. I truely wish Feist wrote all his works with Janny Wurts, she makes him a better author.

It was well read for the most part, my only issue being that the reading of the male character voices were a little forced, and sometime drew me out of the story. This is an issue male readers often have with female characters as well, it often slips into a 'fake voice' feel of a parent ineptly reading their child a story.

A gem

Well worth listening too if you have ever enjoyed any of the stories from the riftwar.

A great addition to the riftwar saga

I've read all the riftwar books except these a few times. and after my latest go round wanted something different. I must say I wasn't disappointed, really great characters, good narration and exciting twists.

Really great, better than anticipated!

Thrilling political narrative on par with the game of thrones. Superbly written as I have come to expect from Raymond E. Feist, and the narration is fantastic. You can really get invested in the characters and their struggles pull at your heartstrings. Previous knowledge of the Tsurani and their honour system brought tears to my eyes an left a lump in my throat in the confrontation with the grey warriors. Will definitely read multiple times.

Epic
