NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The second book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series.

“A triumph! A powerful tale layered in history and myth. I loved every page.”—Nora Roberts

With her classic novel Outlander, Diana Gabaldon introduced two unforgettable characters—Claire Randall and Jamie Fraser—delighting readers with a story of adventure and love that spanned two centuries. Now Gabaldon returns to that extraordinary time and place in this vivid, powerful sequel to Outlander.

For twenty years, Claire Randall has kept her secrets. But now she is returning with her grown daughter to the mysteries of Scotland’s mist-shrouded Highlands. Here Claire plans to reveal a truth as shocking as the events that gave it birth: the secret of an ancient circle of standing stones, the secret of a love that transcends centuries, and the truth of a man named Jamie Fraser—a Highland warrior whose gallantry once drew the young Claire from the security of her century to the dangers of his.

Claire’s spellbinding journey continues through the intrigue-ridden French court and the menace of Jacobite plots, to the Highlands of Scotland, through war and death in a desperate fight to save both the child and the man she loves.

Very engaging like the last book but I would argue it has better pace..maybe too much pace at times, a lot happens! Brianna is a bit annoying, didnt like her in the show either but I thought that was because she was badly cast. hopefully that changes as I continue. Helps that I watched the show first i think. Narrator is very talented and actually better in this book. Unpopular opinion but too much sex for my liking, much prefer to stay focused on stories and characters it's a bit too often and graphic, leaves nothing to the imagination which is a big part of literature in my opinion.

narration is flawless

I’m a huge fan of Diana Gabaldon and own all of her books. I do like to listen to audio as well and I can’t praise Kristin Atherton enough. Her narration of this book is superb. Highly recommended.

having seen most of the TV series, I wanted to try the books. A few years back I began this first book, and loved it but didn't finish for whatever reason. I went to listen again, only to find the narrator has changed. This lady speaks so fast at times that in had to pause and rewind a bit to make sense of the garbled bits. This, and the author's curious and obvious passion for masochism, floggings and sexual violence, were the negatives, but push on through that and it's a fantastic story! Pressing on with book 2 now.
