Summary

Hidden is the first book in Bone Secrets, the multimillion-copy bestselling series.

Eleven years ago, the Co-ed Slayer murdered nine female students on the Oregon State University campus. Lacey Campbell barely escaped his attack, but lost her best friend whose remains were never found. As the sole surviving victim, Lacey helped send the sadistic serial killer to prison for life.

Now a forensic odontologist examining teeth and bones for the state Medical Examiner, Lacey is devastated when she arrives at a crime scene and identifies the skeletal remains as her college friend’s.

The remains are discovered on the land of ex-cop Jack Harper. Sparks fly between him and Lacey, even as they realize that the prosecution’s witnesses from a decade ago are now being murdered one by one. All the evidence points to the Co-ed Slayer as the culprit—only, he’s long since dead. So who’s the new killer? And is Lacey next in line to die?

Golden Heart finalist Kendra Elliot combines chilling suspense and steamy romance in a gripping tale, uniting in-depth forensic knowledge with a passion for thrillers. Set in the snowy winter of Oregon, Hidden creates spine-tingling chills.

Epic, loved it all. Unpredictable thriller and romance. New to this author and really enjoyed the whole plot and characters. A brilliant listening experience.

so the story is interesting, lots of characters, plotline etc but the romance actually just is so annoying. it's so I'll save you, my hero. the machismo and desperate internal monologue between the two main characters detracts from the story. so stereotypical and outdated. since it's on Kindle unlimited worth a read.

good listen but the romance is so masc feminine.

I tried. I really did, but the awful 'mechanical' sounding voice made this impossible to listen to. The voice reminded me of the voice on a sat nav.
The story in itself was fair, but I don't think I will rush to read the rest of the series.

ok...!

I like both Lacey and Jack's characters, and yes, maybe their almost instalove connection is a bit of a distraction from the plot (as griped about in other reviews) but I actually think that is the point, these sudden feelings are distracting and confusing for Lacey and Jack, they do interrupt the flow of their day and the investigation process and that is why I like the added romance and steamy scenes, it helps us relate to Lacey's experiences and distractions. As much as I like Lacey and Jack, I really dislike Michael, he is controlling, combative, cocky and childish. Having read other Kendra Elliot books I also don't think the police and detectives are well represented here, they come across as bumbling and a little slow - which is the complete opposite of Callahan and Falco in the later series they appear in....so maybe they learn and grow over time!
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to the rest of the series, I listened to this on Audible with Kindle Unlimited.

It is rare that I cannot finish listening to a book but with this one came close. Moved to 1.2 x speed and it was ok

Story developed and characters became more familiar as the plot went on and in the end I was glad I didn’t give up

poor narration!
