Summary

Reidon Ward will become a god.

He doesn't know it yet, of course. Reidon was born weak, sickly, and small. Afflicted with a painful disease and abandoned by his parents because of it, he has had to fight tooth and nail for every minor advantage life has allowed him.

However, his perseverance has not gone unnoticed, and when the most powerful artificial intelligence in human history takes an interest in him, things began to change quickly. Granted a CAD—a Combat Assistance Device—with awful specs but an infinite potential for growth, Reidon finds himself at the bottom of his class at the Galens Institute, one of the top military academies in the Collective. Along with his best friend, Viviana Arada, Reidon will have to start his long climb through the school rankings and on to the combat tournament circuits that have become humanity's greatest source of excitement and entertainment.

So begins the rise of a god. So begins the ascent of the Stormweaver.

Other reviewers have already said it, but this is pretty great book for the genre, with plenty of action but not excessively so. The writing quality is decent and you get value for your credit, I'd also so say there's minimal filler.

The characters a well rounded, the skill progression reasonable and consistent. Established rules and expectations are followed. There are unexpected twists and turns but this don't rely on the characters being irrational or rule braking. If rules are broken, the reasoning is well established and act as an evolution, in stead of braking your emersion.

some of the characters are exceptionally hard headed, but then again you often get that with exceptional people. A very minor critique, a touch more romance between the main characters might have been nice, as it's minimal at best, but it does seem natural and well written. Choosing between minimal or excessive though, I'd take the minimalist approach every time.

Oh and the narrations pretty great too, as it seems well suited to this type of story and character's.

So far so good, I look forward to the next one!

A great first entry

Loved this book from start to finish, love the compariaon to Cradle as I had the same excitement regarding the main characters growth. The narration is great Luke does an amazing job. I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in progression fantasy.

I feel like Slow and steady win the race descripes this book really well, it's rarely fast paced which would make you think it's full of fillers and yes there are some but they have been done really well, and even tho i say thats it's a slow paced book. the amout of evolutions the main carecters go thrug in the book witch i believe spands over about 10 months is incredably.
it's a millitary book se there is quite a bit of combat and not just hand to hand or with guns. lot of swords and spears and differet abilities, but what i wanted with this last part was to say that the combat scenes are really well written and descriped very well right down to the death and pains of people dying.

book 2 should come out at the end of 2021 not sure if the audio book will be ready this year too but i will deffently get it.

The narrater is also really incredably he really lives the book, and the blooper part at the end just kills you. it's really funny and it shows how mutch time and effort he put into it.
