Most relevant
Until now I have enjoyed Michel Robotham’s books. This one could have been condensed by two thirds. The plot was convoluted and in places ludicrous. There were far too many characters whose existence was tangential and mostly unnecessary.
Why would the police not think first that a child of divorced parents would most likely have been taken by the aggrieved partner?
On the plus side Inspector Ruiz’s backstory was interesting and the narrator was excellent.

Much as I love a story with twists this had a few too many for me and then a very abrupt ending. On the whole a nice listen enhanced by excellent narration.

What made the experience of listening to Lost the most enjoyable?

I am a big fan of Michael Robotham's books and have listened to a number of the Joseph O'Loughlin series. I didn't read them in order, so for me, this was really useful background story about Detective Inspector Vincent Ruiz.

What did you like best about this story?

It takes you all over the place. You can't tell what's going to happen next. It keeps you guessing.

Any additional comments?

Detective Inspector Vincent Ruiz is not a warm fluffy character, he is rough and hard, but he is also determined and you would want him on your side. An excellent book.

Having listened to all the other Joe OLoughlin books before listening to Lost, this book let me down. And not least because the voice of the narrator just didn’t suit the character that has been portrayed by Sean Barrett in the other books. But I found the story meandered at times, it didn’t have the pace of the other books in the series
