Summary

Father may have been prepared to meet a demon, but he wasn’t ready for Noah.

The trip to the Linwick Estate is finally complete. A meeting with Father looms, and with it the greatest threat that Noah has ever faced. Not only does he have to pretend to be the demon that Father sent his own son to get killed by, but he needs to find a way to trick the paranoid man into revealing the secret to killing the very demon that he’s taken the spot of.

Everyone in the Estate seems to have ulterior motives and Noah’s students aren’t an exception. The truth behind why Isabel and Todd were assigned to Vermil’s tutelage in the first place lurks in the shadows, impatient to rear its head.

The tenuous tower of cards that Noah has built threatens to tumble to the ground. Enemies surround him and Father’s machinations stretch farther than anyone ever could have guessed.

There’s just one thing he didn’t account for. As dangerous and experienced as Father is, Noah is older—and he’s a far better liar.

It's good, a bit slow paced but I prefer it to a rushed story.

But the constant use of eye twitching is getting on my nerves.

The reviewers eye twitched

First of all, narration is amazing even if the voices of character get reversed a couple of times and the recording quality is oddly low quality with too much bass and lizardish S-sounds compared to first book. If you also suffer from this disabling Dolby Atmos and and also lower the 4, 6 and 8kHz bars in Equalizer to de-lizardize the audio.

Story is good, flow is decent and characters are acting in character for the most part. A bit too much "power of friendship" bs again, but at least it is executed much better this time, but still way too heavy handedly to fit naturally to the story and the world, especially considering character backgrounds.

The biggest problem by far is the MC refusing to do the obvious things he has sworn to do and should do asap, yet never does. Also, his personality keeps going from one extreme convictiom to the other with no continuity (I don't mean the plot ones).

For example, MC is a music teacher with higher education, yet constantly approaches things like he knows nothing of teaching, studying and intentionally cripples himself by refusing to study anything. He was occasionally gets a panic attack if he is waiting for anything unable to do anything due to trauma, yet wastes a lot of time doing nothing rather than study/meditate/grind/write down rune combinations

He kills tons of monsters, obsessed about learning all their moves, and gathering parts for a big sale to shop. Yet learns nothing about monsters, which parts are valuable, asks no advice and sells everything to first bidder to a fraction of the price of a rank 1 rune he is throwing around like its nothing and letting them dissipate and then buys nothing.

He is most crippled by limited ability to infuse and capture runes, yet not even once tried to purchase, ask as a reward or even ask the price of these capturing papers.

There are plenty of others but they could spoil so I will omit them.

These are not game ending plot holes, but they are very infuriating and can't give the writing a 5 star due to them

Very good, but has problems. Narration is great
