Sharpe’s Tiger is the brilliant beginning of Sharpe’s adventures

India, 1799

The citadel of Seringapatam is under siege. Navigating this dangerous kingdom of bejewelled palaces and poverty, Private Richard Sharpe embarks on a rescue mission to save a senior officer from the clutches of the Tippoo of Mysore – and oust the Sultan from his throne.

The fortress of Mysore is considered impregnable, but one of the greatest threats comes from betrayal within the British ranks. And the man to outwit enemies from both sides is Sharpe . . .

Where to start.. I remember as a kid my friend Craig going home to watch the ITV Sharpe with Shane Bean. I watched it on prime before I bought the audios.
The books are so good (I suggest you listen in chronological order like me), I spent £9 a time, did 20 books in 2 months... and before I listened to the last, I am re-listening to them.
Bernard Cromwell is as good writer as he is a good Historian....I could replace "good with "exceptional" on both accounts.

Rupert Farley is amazing and brings the books to live. yes I can say he took inspiration from from the ITV series & as you progress through the books, his Scottish accent can blend characters, but in his defence, maybe that local dialect made the best Scottish officer's. but English, Welsh, Spanish, Indian...female... Great narration.

This story is brilliant, not only does it give a fictional story, rich in historic accuracy it gives us "a real bastard", A villain Obadiah Hakeswill.

I can not really endorse this book enough, but to say I kept listening £90 a month...

I hope you listen, then read my next review Dodd

The boy done good. Sharpe's new accent owes much to the TV series. William Gaminara was the voice of the original story's for me. The pace of the narration took a while to get used to but was fine after all.

Good story

As an avid follower of Sharpe mainly being my inspiration for joining the forces my brother sent me this book and I recognised bits of the book from the TV show Sharpe's Challenge but with a twist (as the book came first) it made a proper good listen. An easy 5* all round.

A good listen..
