About this listen

In this captivating trilogy, three unforgettable couples navigate the complexities of love, loyalty, and redemption amidst the backdrop of New York City’s glittering skyline.

In Once Upon a Billionaire, Kiara Aurelius, a reserved school teacher, unexpectedly finds herself house-sitting for the enigmatic Barrett Olson, a suave businessman with whom she shares an undeniable chemistry. A passionate weekend evolves into a deep connection that neither can forget, but when family loyalties and societal expectations threaten their budding romance, they must decide if their love is worth fighting for.

In Once Upon a Thief, Liam Dieben embarks on a quest to recover a stolen masterpiece, enlisting the help of his childhood friend, Anna Moore. As they unravel the mystery, old sparks reignite, and their romance blossoms amid the danger of betrayal and deception. But as the danger intensifies, Liam must choose between his family's legacy and the love he’s rediscovered with Anna.

In Once Upon a Crime, billionaire playboy Hunter Cavalier’s world is turned upside down when he’s tasked with caring for Simone Dreadmore, the sister of his closest friend. As Simone’s fierce independence challenges Hunter’s expectations, a passionate romance develops. But when Simone is accused of a crime, the pair must flee the city and face a future of uncertainty, all while navigating the betrayal and adversity that threatens their love.

This trilogy is a modern reimagining of timeless fairy tales, where love is tested by passion, danger, and the unpredictable forces of fate. Will these couples defy the odds and find their happily ever afters, or will they be consumed by the shadows lurking in the city? Only the strongest hearts will prevail.

The Billionaire Fairy Tale Trilogy is three full length audiobooks with three fun couples that have undeniably chemistry and unique stories. The men are all billionaires, and the women they fall for are strong and independent—perfect matches that don’t make things easy on these playboys. It makes for fun and sassy interplay in each of these stand alone stories (though the second and third stories are interconnected).

Once Upon a Billionaire is a fascinating love story. Kiara is brazen and bold yet also very unsure and insecure. The dichotomy is quite fascinating. She has an overbearing older brother who stirs up so much drama, yet also tries to do what is best for her—seeing her more as a child than an independent adult. Billionaire playboy Barrett is the quintessential manwhore—until he meets Kiara. His internal dialogue as he works through his own issues is so much fun, and I enjoyed the scenes with his father. Kiara and Barrett have a great first meeting that is fiery and fierce. Watching these two dance together and avoid discussing their feelings as they get to know each other is highly entertaining. I loved Barrett’s dog Bear—he is such a cutie! These two face quite the third act drama, and I loved that it was not a breakup but outside issues that they have to overcome. An opposites attract tale, I listened to the audiobook version of this story. The performances were well done, the delivery smooth and easy. Post production could use a little clean up for volume control.

Once Upon a Thief is a fascinating tale with complex characters and a plot line that is both intriguing and spicy. Liam is bold and self-assured, son of a famous painter with endless resources at his disposal. Unable to commit to anyone other than himself, he is singularly focused on recovering his father’s stolen artwork. He is by turns aggravating in his short sightedness, passionate in his drive, and once he reunites with Anna—in a most peculiar fashion—driven by his inescapable attraction to her. He definitely falls first and hard, and I love that he is the first to cop to his feelings. Anna is highly independent, incredibly driven, and embraces all of her wants and needs while toeing the line in a world of high stakes. Her desire to protect her friend while also helping Liam definitely puts her at odds with Liam on multiple occasions, and it is fascinating to watch her act boldly in most manners but cowardly when it comes to addressing her feelings for Liam. They have intense chemistry and there are multiple spicy scenes as the drama and intrigue unfolds. The narrators did a good job of bringing the characters to life with enthusiasm, inflection, and style. The female narrator has a wonderful voice that was easy to listen to, even when the character she is performing is less than pleasant. The post production of the audiobook has a few kinks to workout, but overall it’s a good listen. I’m looking forward to Hunter and Simone’s story next!

Once Upon a Crime is a fun romantic mystery with two main characters who are brilliant and yet terrible communicators who hold their feelings close to their chests. Simone is a young woman bravely moving forward, overcoming so much while also learning about the real world after having been sheltered and controlled her entire life. Hunter is a billionaire playboy lawyer with a skewed view of himself and his self-worth. Watching him protect and help Simone while she discovers who she is, independent of her controlling father, is so beautiful. Their physical chemistry and emotional connection grows the more time they spend together. Simone has such a positive outlook on life, and her innocence with social skills is so endearing. That Hunter fails to see that about her—seeing her strength and fire and wanting her more because of it—is swoony sweet. I enjoyed the audiobook—the narrators brought emotion and depth to the characters through their performances. There were minor hiccups that had to do with post-production mixing and mastering that could have been done better, but it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment of the story.
