The year is 1897. Sherlock Holmes and his lovely young American daughter Lucy James must foil a plot to destroy Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebration, defeating the high-ranking traitor who has eluded them in their previous adventures. If they fail, the Queen and thousands of innocent people will die, and the British Empire will fall into chaos.

This series of new Sherlock Holmes stories where he is joined by his daughter Lucy James are cleverly written and manage to retain the feel of the originals. This episode follows Holmes, Lucy and of course John Watson as they strive to ensure that Queen Victoria's jubilee isn't disrupted by terrorists.
I enjoyed the story and that there were several sub-plots which are eventually woven together to give an exciting finale. I did think that it could have been tightened up a little, I found my attention wandering at times and for me it could have been shortened by 30 minutes or so. There are also the usual 'Americanisms' scattered throughout the story which did grate with me and detracted a bit from my enjoyment, I also thought that the 'Cockney' accents lapsed at times into sounding a bit like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, again this slightly spoiled it for me. These couple of criticisms are why I have taken a star off, it could have been a 5 star rating.
I must emphasise that despite these criticisms I did enjoy listening to this audio book and I do recommend it.

Entertaining Sherlock Holmes tale

I absolutely loved the audiobooks in the series but the change in narrators has ruined it.

The narrators ruined it

Good story and characterisation spoilt occasionally by the odd Americanism (“bleachers”) and inaccuracy (Lestrade giving Lucy a receipt for an item he had given her). Well read, especially by Simon Prebble who is a master of narration.

Exciting post-Conan Doyle Holmes story

The author seems to improve with each book. The story was good and had some depth.
The use of Americanisms is still there. Mispronouncing Elswick many times by the English narrator was jarring. Like many places names the W is silent.

Much better than the previous book.

A great follow up in the Sherlock Holmes expansion. The adventures are in keeping with the original stories yet feel fresh and new and feel that the different approach is good.
