Summary

Read by the author, Shahroo Izadi

'A powerful way to break even the most stubborn bad habit so you can live the life you deserve' – Steven Bartlett, The Diary of a CEO

Map your habits, set your own goals and treat yourself with the kindness you truly deserve.

Shahroo Izadi has a revolutionary message: treating yourself kindly is the only way to make changes that last. She is living proof that her method works – after years of yo-yo dieting she shed over eight stone (and has kept it off ever since). Professional training coupled with personal experience led her to develop The Kindness Method, a totally non-judgemental approach which turns strict regimes upside down to leave you feeling empowered, positive and ready to embrace change.

In The Kindness Method, Behavioural Change Specialist Shahroo invites you first, to give yourself a break - life can be stressful - and then learn how to strengthen your willpower like a muscle so you can sustain motivation for the long haul. These techniques may seem gentle, but the results are life-changing because the plan is tailored to you, and they can work for everything from alcohol addiction to procrastination to weight loss. By using the same techniques that she has used to help substance addicts recover from dependence, you too will find that you have the power to change – for good.

A powerful way to break even the most stubborn bad habit so you can live the life you deserve (Steven Bartlett, The Diary of a CEO)
The moment I met her I immediately knew she was the real deal. She just gets it. She's a sobering, safe and sassy presence in a world of extremes. (Bryony Gordon, #1 bestselling author of Mad Girl)
Shahroo's dynamic and compassionate approach to an entrenched and sometimes scary drinking culture is refreshing, non-judgmental and feels like a very contemporary approach to talking about alcohol. (Gemma Cairney, BBC Radio 1 presenter and author of Open: A Toolkit for How Magic and Messed Up Life Can Be)
Aside from my own experience of Shahroo's superb work, the greatest testament is that our clients keep requesting more and more of her invaluable experience, insights and strategies to successfully manage their emotional wellbeing. (Dominic Ruffy, Amy Winehouse Foundation)
That's what Shahroo does. Gets me to ask fundamental questions with a kindness and compassion I normally reserve for others. (Marisa Bate, The Pool)
This book is wonderful. Kindness is king. Kindness is key. (Eoin Colfer, bestselling author of the Artemis Fowl series)
A game-changing book about habits and beliefs that focuses on boosting our self-esteem and resilience, rather than demonising ourselves or our behaviours. And we can use it to change any unwanted behaviour, from struggling with prescription drugs to procrastinating to drinking too much prosecco. (Evening Standard)

I was asked by a friend to help him change his life. he saw the changes I'd made and wanted to embark on a similar journey.

My own change was the result of a lot of research, learning, trial, error and failure. I had made massive improvements to my life and I'm extremely aware of the good work I've done. BUT I'm not at all qualified to help my friend so rather than try to reinvent the wheel or replicate what had worked for me I looked for existing change plans for inspiration and guidance.

This book will work.

Every tool is rooted in solid science.

I have read a lot of personal development books in my time, had given up on finding strategies to change and I was resigned to just muddle through my difficulties. But this book is different. There is no quick fix and in fact you need to have patience to do things slowly and the capacity for self reflection. Shahroo doesn’t tell you what to you but show you how to see how you mess up and get in the way in the first place. She also points out that falling down as you make progress is also part of your journey. Loved her voice and I can see why she is a great therapist. The PDF files for the written exercises were a little confusing as she doesn’t tell you in the Audio book when to use them. In the end I found it easier to get the paperback from Amazon so I could move back and forward when I needed. You can do this on the Kindle but I wanted a physical book. For the first time in a long time I feel hopeful about solving my problems. Thank you Shahroo.

I am surprised but this really works

This book is for everyone. I can’t stop recommending this book! I found it especially useful as audio in helping me commit by not progressing until I completed each task as it came along. The process really helped me understand what lapse looks like to me and to know what to do when it happens. It can only be with kindness! I thank Shahroo for this generous book!

Excellent!
