About this listen

There's method in the madness of a murderer who strikes in the night's darkest hour....

On a rainy winter night outside a nightclub in London, four strangers meet for the first time at 4:00 a.m. A few weeks later a body is found inside a willow tree on Hampstead Heath. The Peculiar Crimes Unit is called in to investigate.

When another victim seemingly commits suicide, it becomes clear that in the London night is a killer who knows what people fear most. As they explore a night city where all the normal rules are upended, Bryant and May are drawn deeper into a case that involves murder, arson, kidnap, blackmail, bats and the psychological effects of loneliness on Londoners. It's a trail that takes them from the poorest part of the East End to the wealthiest homes in North London - an investigation that can only end in tragedy....

Have Listened to all the auditable recordings and read the books. Undiluted Joy - well written, atmospheric and very funny. It's a privilege to spend time with the Peculiar Crimes Unit as they explore the history of London while solving very contemporary problems.

I cannot say when I have enjoyed a story as much.
I’m fully engrossed with the characters and all the storylines have been brilliant.

Brilliant story and excellently told

I have been with Bryant and May from the first book. I started reading the books but over the years listened to them on cds in the car going to work. Even if I go back to reading the books I still hear Tim Goodman’s voice in my head; he is Bryant and May. This is a really good one with the usual local history bits and a convoluted plot and a surprising cliff hanger. Don’t know how long I will have to wait for the next one. Hope it is not too long. According to the last words of the book “ Bryant and May will be back.”

Thoroughly enjoyable

As always an absolute pleasure to lose myself in. I've listened to all the Bryant and May books many times over and will again.. Another book full of the characters I love so much, the dialogue that often has me laughing out loud and the intricately woven story that keeps me wondering and always entertained. I'm not going to go on about specific plot points, if you know these people and the magnificent eclectic PCU so buy it and enjoy.

Excellently written.

I love Christopher Fowler’s style, knowledge and humour. Good strong story lines and characters brought to life with Tim Goodmans narration which is nothing short of superb.
A combination to be reckoned with.
Fowler & Goodman.

So good, I can’t wait to start the next
