Summary

Join the world's most famous drow elf in the penultimate chapter of the Legend of Drizzt series! Spending time in the unimaginable torture chambers of the Abyss for even a day would be enough to break even the heartiest soul, and the barbarian Wulfgar was there for years. When he returns, his friends find him a changed man, and not changed for the better. But Wulfgar's road to redemption is one he must travel on his own, even if it leads to the bottle.

Alot have reviewed with dislike for this one as Drizzt does not appear in it, but I enjoyed it even though I wasn't expecting much. It was a really good journey of Wulfgars recovery from his stint in hell. I found the love(ish) story interesting to follow also... not sure it can be described as a love story to be honest but interesting all the same

I enjoyed

I've really enjoyed the series right up until this book and felt the story was very much dragged out. This one followed Wolfgar rather than the usual characters. Hopefully just a blip and we get back to the gripping story in the next book

Not as gripping as others

Just could not engage with this book. Only got a few chapters in and gave up. would be better as a spin-off

Couldn't stay interested

This book drags, a lot. This review has been written 10 times over, but with little happening other than misunderstanding and people being self involved, I found myself listening just to ensure I don't miss anything referred to in later books...

Victor Bevine is on point, the rest ... Meh

If you really like Wulfgar, then maybe. Drizzt does not appear in the book other than the occasional musing at the start of the chapters.
The B story is a romance story that has little to do with anything until the last quarter of the book.

I did enjoy the last section more, especially the moments focusing on Morik, who I find more interesting than Wulfgar.

It does setup event for the next book, but save a credit and read a summary.

Not a Drizzt novel
