About this listen

A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

The Valkyrie pilots of the Vagabond Squadron are sent in to support a massive engagement on an ork front, but no mission is ever simple. Though challenged like never before, they will rise to the occasion and complete their mission – or die trying.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
Jump into the cockpit with elite pilots for a different perspective on the Astra Militarum. This thrill-ride has it all, from high-flying action, to down and dirty combat, along with a heaping dose of behind-the-scenes drama from the point of view of the crucial air crew.

THE STORY
Valkyrie pilots are amongst the finest aviators in the Imperium, and few more so than Vagabond Squadron, the elite of the 901st Tactical Wing. Hard flying, hard fighting, and defiance in the face of all odds are trademarks of the Vagabond. But their latest deployment – against the overwhelming might of the ork invasion of Kanai Tertius – will test them like never before.

The integration of a new, fledgling aviator, divisions amongst high command, and the rising threat of xenos air superiority mean the Vagabonds now face their most desperate mission yet, its full details known only to squadron leader Cassandra Elza. The fate of the planet-spanning campaign to hold the line on Kanai Tertius will be decided by the skill, daring and dedication of Vagabond Squadron. But this time, not all of them will be coming home.

It’s no double eagle or interceptor city but is a good story about the AI and the AM, I quite enjoyed it and I could listen to Emma Gregory narrate all my foibles and failures and enjoy it! 😉

I honestly have no idea how this got greenlit let alone published. The story is non existent and footnotes at best. You can see it's trying so hard to be Double Eagle or Interceptor City, but its just not there. The Von Shard books have better aerial work in them ans most of them are ground based.
The characters are so simple its like that have a single note and thats it.
Then you have the whole "A troop transport can be a fighter." thing. There is a reason other book involving pilots go for fighter craft. You can't make a buss driver interesting. Lastly why the aouther decide to change names on things I have no idea. A Heavy Bolter is a Heavy Bolter not a "Brusier".
I would have refunded if I could. Boring read at best.

Leave the Aerial stuff to Abbnet

Lame story with uninteresting plot and characters. It felt like the main characters gender was simply swapped at the last possible moment instead of writing about female lead character from the start as the female pilot is several times referred to as "he" and "sir". Don't waste your time and money with this one.

Lame filler novel from the Black Library
