  • Why You Keep Chunking Wedges… It Might Not Be Your Swing
    Jul 2 2026

Are you chili dipping, chunking, skulling, or avoiding your wedges altogether?

In this episode of Club Fitting Chronicles, Joshua and Gene break down why your wedge problems might not be entirely your swing. From grip size and choking down, to wedge length, lie angle, shaft weight, bounce, sole width, and turf conditions, they explain how the wrong wedge setup can make the short game way harder than it needs to be.

You’ll learn why some golfers need bigger grips on wedges, why standard wedge lengths may be too short for taller players, how lie angle affects direction on short shots, and why bounce needs to match the ground conditions you actually play in.

  • Why Your Irons Might Be Costing You Strokes!!
    May 28 2026

Most golfers think their irons are “standard” — standard grip, standard flex, standard length, standard lie angle.

But according to Gene, that’s exactly where the trouble starts.

In this episode of Club Fitting Chronicles, Josh returns to talk with Gene about why iron fitting is one of the most misunderstood parts of the bag. They break down why “regular flex” can mean wildly different things, how shaft weight affects tempo and feel, why lighter shafts are not always easier to hit, and why many game improvement irons may actually make it harder for slower swing speed players to launch the ball properly.

They also cover grip size, lie angle myths, low center of gravity irons, offset, club length, dirty grooves, and why your clubs may be forcing you into compensations without you even realizing it.

If you’ve ever wondered why your irons feel inconsistent, why your ball flight is too low, or why your “forgiving” clubs still don’t perform the way you hoped, this episode is for you.

  • The Truth About Hybrids, Fairway Woods & Shaft Weight
    Apr 23 2026

Are you using your hybrids and fairway woods the right way… or costing yourself strokes every round?

In this episode of Club Fitting Chronicles, Gene breaks down the real differences between hybrids, fairway woods, and driving irons—and why most golfers are making critical mistakes with them. From shaft weight and club length to lie angle, loft gapping, and even how you should be swinging a hybrid, this episode is packed with insights that can immediately improve your ball striking.

    You’ll learn:

    - When to use a hybrid vs a driving iron (and who should NEVER use a driving iron)
    - Why hybrids are easier to hit—and why they should be swung like an iron
    - The #1 mistake golfers make with fairway woods in the rough
    - How shaft weight impacts consistency and contact
    - Why longer clubs might actually be hurting your game
    - How to fix distance gaps between your hybrids and irons
    - What to look for in grip wear, swing weight, and club setup

If you’ve ever hit a great drive… only to mess up your next shot with a fairway wood or hybrid, this episode will help you fix it.

    https://youtu.be/RTQ1glVRwrQ

Is your driver the problem… or is it you?

In this episode, we break down the most common reasons golfers struggle off the tee — and how to diagnose it fast.

Gene walks through a simple checklist to help you determine:

    Is your swing the issue?
Or is your driver actually working against you?

    We cover:

Grip wear (and what it reveals about your swing)
Shaft flex mistakes most golfers make
Why longer drivers hurt your game
How face angle secretly affects your shot shape
Where you’re hitting the face (and how it kills distance)
Simple at-home tests to diagnose your setup

Most golfers are trying to fix the wrong thing.
This episode helps you fix the RIGHT one.

  • How to Know if its the CLUBS...
    Feb 26 2026

Here's some things to look for in your own game or your friends game that indicate It's The Clubs...

    1. Size up the person, age, height, strength, athletic ability
    2. Size up the clubs, do they match the observations of the person using them
    3. Ask questions, what is the weakest area of the bag, strongest, check those clubs out.
    4. How good of a putter are you. Watch them line up a putt and watch the take away.
    5. Signs that a club is too light or heavy
    6. What do golfers tend to do when they have to little loft to get the ball up in the air.
    7. What do golfers tend to do if the clubs are too long. Just because I'm over 6 ft doesn't mean they need to all be longer.

  • What are the OEM's Offering in 2026 to Mess up your Game?
    Jan 30 2026

Remember the legal limits have been reached with drivers/fairway woods/ Hybrids and Irons. Making them lower lofted and longer isn't the answer for most humans.

It doesn't need to cost $650 to make a driver!

  • How Doug Plays His Best Golf
    Dec 22 2025

In today's episode, we're getting back in touch with Doug.
Back in 2023 Doug contacted us with a question. That eventually turned into building a set of irons and we talked with him on the podcast in March of 24. We are seeing what he has learned about what he needs to play his best golf. We played golf together for the first time this past summer.

If you have been a long time listener we fit Doug with a set of irons by watching some video of his swing. Asking him a bazillion questions, and sending him some demo clubs to try. We added a driver and replaced a wedge this summer. Merry Christmas, see you in 2026.
