Minnie is BACK!

This week on the Five Heart Podcast, the unexplainable legal trouble of current and former Husker athletes. How does the distraction affect the Huskers? Will this provide some on-the-field clarity as far as who will be the designated number one RB in the Fall?

Also, the wonderful people at ESPN put out a list of the best football players to wear the numbers. You have to assume 0-99. Why would we not? How many Huskers made the list? And how wrong will ESPN be?

While we thought we were done mentioning a certain disgraced former college football quarterback, Minnie says there's just a little more meat on the Brendan Sorsby bone, so we will have that as well.

Also, news from our "friends" in the great cheddar state - it appears Wisconsin is hiring former (and again, disgraced) Nebraska Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst. We will join Minnesota Tony in laughing at their misfortune, talking about the Badgers adding a Culvers(tm) patch on their uniforms, and discuss a similar patch on Nebraska's new unis.

The NCAA announced this week that the world of college athletics is changing as the institution is enacting a new rule for college athletics eligibility.

Five years to play five seasons.

It doesn't exactly mean that student-athletes will conclude their collegiate careers by age 23/24. But it does effectively remove redshirt years and sports-specific waivers.

I know what you're thinking. I asked myself the same questions. And we will discuss all things NCAA and how it affects the college sports landscape, especially for our beloved Huskers.

Also, and I can't believe there's more taffy to pull, but we'll have another - and probably final - update on the Saga of Brendan Sorsby. In brief, it seems highly unlikely that Sorsby will be playing football anywhere in the United States in 2026, either in college or the NFL. But hey, there's always a chance he gets on with a CFL team this summer.

The temperatures continue to rise this summer, and it has definitely been a HOT June for Husker football recruiting. Minnie, Fred, and Greg will discuss where the Cornhuskers are for this month and for the 2027 recruiting class.

In other news, the Savannah Bananas invaded Lincoln last week, playing to a stadium crowd at Memorial Stadium that was their third largest attendance in Bananas history! Husker legends Eric Crouch and Dr. Tom Osborne were among the Nebraska dignitaries on the scene.

In Nebraska recruiting news, the 'skers received a couple more commitments from another busy June weekend, and 2027 quarterback commit Trae Taylor caught a little social media backlash.

Greg and Fred will talk all about it on this week's Five Heart Podcast, as well as an “appropriate” time to start “jonesing” for football, as posed by one of the members of our Live community!

The talk all week long has been about Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby winning his injunction (with the help of a Lubbock, Texas judge) , how the journeyman quarterback will avoid punishment for gambling on games in which his team was playing. This has united most college football fans to bring down the hammer of hatred upon the Red Raiders, making them the lepers of college football. However, Sorsby's renewed eligibility makes Texas Tech a legitimate contender for the national title.

While that hatred and loathing builds, programs like Nebraska and Georgia are requesting their teams to not schedule Tech in any athletic competition. And the Big XII is also looking into other options.

Meanwhile, back on the home front, Trae Taylor was granted his fifth star as the Nebraska commit prepares for his final season of high school football at Millard South. And Nebraska had a successful weekend with recruits visiting campus.

Tonight on Monday Night Therapy, Minnie and Greg will discuss all things Husker Hoops as Fred Hoiberg and his squad prepare for the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. How will the Huskers respond after a disappointing exit Friday in the Big Ten Tournament to eventual champions Purdue? Nebraska faces Troy Thursday morning. What do the Sun Belt Champions bring to the court and how what are possible mismatches on both sides of the floor? The Huskers face the Trojans Thursday morning from Oklahoma City and chase history. A win will get the proverbial monkey off of the back of the men's basketball program. A loss, should it occur, will mean a singularly disappointing moment in the annals of Husker athletics. A lot is on the line Thursday morning (at least morning in the hearts of most Husker fans).

The Five Heart Podcast opened with playful banter before shifting into a lively discussion of Nebraska athletics, especially men’s basketball. The hosts celebrated Nebraska’s strong season, highlighted by the dramatic overtime win over Iowa, which they jokingly dubbed the “Cale Jacobson game.” They looked ahead to the Huskers’ Big Ten Tournament matchup with Purdue, expressing cautious optimism that a healthier Nebraska team could finally break through.
