The Orlando Magic introduced Sean Sweeney as their new head coach as they prepare for a critical 2026 offseason and 2027 season.

Sweeney seems set to bring a new level of intensity and accountability as he takes the reins and begins to build his version of the Orlando Magic. It seems clear that his style will be detail-oriented and extremely focused. The question is whether that will take the Magic to the next level.

We celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Locked On Podcast Network and the 10th anniversary of Locked On Magic with the 10 most consequential and most important moments of the last decade for the Orlando Magic.

It has been a tough decade for the Magic, defined by three eras: The end of the Rob Hennigan era, the Steve Clifford-led Renaissance with two playoff trips and the Jeff Weltman rebuild that has left the Magic itching to advance deeper in the postseason.

The New York Knicks are NBA champions. They now sit on the perch the Orladno Magic hope to climb to. Getting there starts with reckoning with the team's 2026 season and its failures.

The Magic failed to live up to expectations. And many of their individual goals are now tied to their ability to win. The Magic failed to take the step forward they needed to. Leaving many of their questions unanswered.

It should leave the team hungry this offseason. The Magic have had their success against the Knicks and may have many of the tools necessary to beat the new champions. It at least gives them a shot.

Orlando hopes the failures of this season will be lessons to make them better next season as the league turns its attention to the 2027 season.

Orlando Magic stake their offseason on the belief that their starting five is among the NBA's best, despite their injury-plagued season. Is this the right bet for the Magic? Does Orlando have a championship starting five?

The numbers suggest the Magic are pointing in that direction. They simply did not see it enough throughout the season to draw any conclusions. The Magic's playoff series seemed to suggest their starting five can take them deeper into the postseason when together.

That has not stopped rumors about Giannis Antetokounmpo from floating to the surface. As the Milwaukee Bucks get closer to making a trade of their superstar forward, the Magic continually get dragged back into the mix. Even if it remains unlikely that the Magic make a move.

The San Antonio Spurs' Game 4 collapse was far too similar to the Orlando Magic's Game 6 defeat in their playoff series. When Sean Sweeney arrives, he will be asking himself a lot of the same questions the Magic are asking themselves as they try to work together to take this team further.
