  • The End of Traditional Financial Advice? w/ Stefan Astheimer
    Mar 26 2026
For a long time, truly personalized investment advice has been something only the ultra-wealthy could access. If you have tens of millions of dollars, you can hire advisors who don't just sell you products. They build strategies around your entire financial life. But everyone else gets standardized portfolios and is told to keep contributing to their retirement accounts and stay the course. That's starting to change. A new approach to financial advice is emerging, one built around a fee-for-service strategy instead of product sales. Instead of paying someone based on how much money they manage or what investments they sell you, investors can now pay directly for expertise, planning, and financial architecture. That means for the first time, the level of thinking that was mostly reserved for high-net-worth investors is now available to everyday investors who want a more strategic approach to building wealth. In this episode, investment advisor and fractional CEO, COO, and CRO Stefan Astheimer joins me to talk about how this model works, why the traditional advisory system is evolving, and how investors who understand this shift may gain a serious edge. Things You'll Learn In This Episode Most financial advice was never designed to be personal For decades, financial advisors were paid based on products sold or assets managed. But if your advisor's incentives shape the advice you get, how personalized can that advice really be? The edge for everyday investors Could separating advice from product sales finally give ordinary investors access to the kind of guidance the wealthy get? Paying off debt or building wealth first Many people assume eliminating debt should always come before investing. But when interest rates, tax advantages, and opportunity costs come into play, how do you decide which move actually builds wealth faster? AI makes great financial advisors more valuable, not less Many people assume AI will replace advisors. But what if technology actually increases the demand for high-level strategic guidance? • What Banks Actually Look For Before Funding a Business w/ Sebastien Boyer
    Mar 19 2026

Starting a business is often framed as a simple equation: have a good idea, take it to the bank, and secure the funding. But the reality is very different. Most business owners aren't rejected because their idea is bad.

They're rejected because they approached the capital the wrong way. So many deals fail before they ever reach underwriting, and it's not because of the opportunity. It's preparation, structure, and understanding how lenders evaluate risk.

Banks aren't investors looking for the next big idea. They operate under strict guidelines, regulatory frameworks, and underwriting criteria that determine whether a deal can even move forward.

And most entrepreneurs walk into the process without understanding those rules.

In this episode of Money School Elite, I sit down with Sebastien Boyer, known as "The Approved Guy," to break down what actually happens inside the lending process when someone applies for a business loan.

In this conversation, we unpack several key realities that experienced operators understand, but many first-time entrepreneurs miss.

We discuss why banks care more about the borrower's financial stability than the business idea itself. We also talk about how to get a deal to survive the approval process.

  • The Financial Reality of Pro Snowboarding and How to Escape It w/ Stevie Bell
    Mar 12 2026
Every athlete knows the music will eventually stop. Whether you walk away on your terms, are forced out by injury, or have a contract that doesn't get renewed, your career will inevitably end. In leagues like the NFL, NBA, or MLB, that ending can still leave you financially set. You might walk away with generational money. In action sports, that's rarely the case. A pro snowboarder can start earning real money in their teens. They can travel the world, land major sponsors, build a name, and live what looks like a dream career. But very few retire with enough money to last a lifetime. The earning window is short, the contracts are volatile, and the industry replaces you faster than you expect. What should athletes be doing during their earning years to avoid starting over financially at 30? Stevie Bell's snowboarding career is nothing short of meteoric. Starting from riding the bus two hours a day to Brighton as a laser-focused teenager, then landing a breakout video part just two years into riding, he went from unknown kid to signing a life-changing contract with one of the most iconic brands in snowboarding. From managing fear on handrails that could end a career, to navigating brand politics when Forum was shut down, to walking away from the sport and rebuilding his identity after the checks stopped coming. His story is a masterclass in how quickly momentum can build and how quickly it can disappear. Stevie shares his career arc with me. We talk about how quickly money can scale, how quickly it can disappear, why most riders walk away with nothing, and how financial literacy becomes a competitive advantage when the career clock is ticking. Things You'll Learn In This Episode The moment every career ends, and why most people aren't ready- Whether it's injury, burnout, or a contract that isn't renewed, the music eventually stops. How do you prepare financially and psychologically for an ending you can't control? Fear as a strategic advantage- Top riders don't eliminate fear; they manage it. What does calculated risk look like when the downside is career-ending, and how does that translate to business and investing? The evolution of the industry- With airbags, Olympic pipelines, social media, and corporate sponsors, snowboarding has gone mainstream. Does more visibility actually mean more sustainable opportunity? Win or build: the new income model- If salary-based sponsorship is shrinking, and only a few athletes win consistently, how should modern athletes think about brand, leverage, and long-term income beyond competition? Guest Bio Stevie Bell is a former professional snowboarder and industry veteran with over 25 years of experience in action sports. He built a 14-year professional career after breaking onto the scene with a breakout video part just two years into snowboarding, eventually signing with Forum, one of the most iconic brands in the sport's history. During his tenure with Forum, Stevie traveled internationally filming video projects, participating in global tours, and contributing to one of the most influential eras in snowboard media. His career spanned major brand partnerships, long-term sponsorship contracts, and firsthand exposure to the evolving economics of action sports, from athlete compensation structures to the impact of corporate acquisitions and industry consolidation. After stepping away from professional competition, Stevie transitioned into entrepreneurship and content creation. He is currently the host of the Forum Chronicles podcast, where he documents the 20-year history of Forum and interviews key figures who shaped the brand and broader snowboard culture. • The Real Reason AI Valuations Are So High w/ Daniel Nikic
    Mar 5 2026

In today's market, AI valuations are expanding faster than fundamentals can justify. Companies with minimal free cash flow are being priced as if dominance is already secured.

Capital continues to circulate between venture portfolios, strategic partners, and ecosystem incumbents, reinforcing growth narratives that assume liquidity remains abundant.

But markets don't reward narratives forever.

When growth slows or capital tightens, the question shifts from projected upside to structural durability. Does the business generate real cash? Does it control proprietary data that compounds value? Is it positioned to be acquired or forced to sell?

This is where discipline separates operators from spectators.

Daniel Nikic has spent years operating inside early-stage capital markets, studying transaction patterns, portfolio structures, and acquisition behavior. From that vantage point, valuation is less about headlines and more about capital flows, strategic adjacency, and who holds liquidity when cycles turn.

In this episode, we look beneath the surface of today's AI enthusiasm to examine what actually drives valuation, how smart founders reverse-engineer an exit, and why companies entering a slowdown with balance sheet strength don't just survive, they consolidate.

  • Wealthy People Upgrade Everything… Except This w/ Ted Ryce
    Feb 26 2026
As people make more money, they tend to get sharper about almost everything. They think long term, manage risk better, hire experts, invest wisely and optimize their businesses and portfolios. But when it comes to health, a lot of people are still running the same basic playbook everyone else is. Standard labs, five-minute appointments, and just waiting until something breaks. When you want to level up in every area of your life, the conversation shouldn't be, "Am I sick right now?" It should be, "Where am I headed, and how early can I catch it?" The people who are strong, active, and dangerous well into their later decades aren't winging it. They're tracking smarter markers, finding issues years before they become diagnoses. They understand a principle that lines up perfectly with money: The fundamentals compound. Biohacks may be exciting, peptides are trendy, and GLP-1s are everywhere. But if your cardiovascular system is weak, your metabolic health is sliding, and you're losing muscle, then you're not really upgrading your future. You're selling it off. In this episode, I'm joined by Ted Ryce, a performance coach who has worked with high-level entrepreneurs and starts like Richard Branson and Robert Downey Jnr. He talks about how serious operators should think about their bodies, what advanced clients test for that most physicians never bring up, and why mastering the basics still wins in wealth and health. Things You'll Learn In This Episode Looking fit isn't the same as being healthy You can lift, diet, and still be metabolically heading toward disaster, so what numbers actually predict trouble years before a diagnosis? The uncomfortable truth about weight-loss drugs If appetite goes down but muscle disappears with it, are you really improving your future, or borrowing against it? The health metric we shouldn't ignore What does your VO₂ max say about how long and how well you'll live, and why are so few people training it intentionally? Biohacks can't outrun broken fundamentals Before you experiment with peptides, hormones, and supplements, how do you actually master sleep, movement, and recovery? Guest Bio Ted Ryce is a health expert and coach to entrepreneurs, executives, and high-performing professionals who want to reclaim their health, lose weight, upgrade their productivity and live an extraordinary life. Ted's been in the industry for 25+ years, coaching A-listers like Richard Branson, Robert Downey Jr., and hundreds of CEOs and entrepreneurs. • "I Can't Afford a Coach" Is Why You're Stuck w/ Patrick Engasser
    Feb 19 2026
When you're struggling in business or just starting out, the last thing you think you need is a coach. You think you can't afford it, you're not ready, or you should wait until you have better results first. But every time someone feels like that, that's actually when they need a coach the most. Most people see coaching as something you do later. Once things are going well, the money is there, and you've "made it" enough to deserve help. But that's not really how it works. Coaching isn't there to reward you for being successful. It's there to stop you from wasting years trying to get there on your own. Because the real cost isn't paying for a coach. The real cost is everything you lose while you're trying to figure it out by yourself. In fact, coaching isn't even a cost. When you have the right coach, it starts paying off quickly, and it becomes one of the best investments you'll ever make in yourself. How do you know when it's the right time to get help instead of waiting it out? How did my guest build a top-performing career as a blind sales professional in one of the toughest industries there is? What can we learn from his success story? In this episode, entrepreneur, speaker, coach, and bestselling author of If I Can Do It, You Can Do It, Patrick Engasser, joins me to talk about mindset, opportunity, and why getting the right guidance early changes everything. You'll learn why the people who grow fastest aren't the smartest, they're just the ones who stop trying to do it alone. Things You'll Learn In This Episode "I can't afford a coach" is usually backwards Is it really about money, or about how much time, stress, and lost momentum it's costing you to figure everything out the slow way? The hidden mindset shift that unlocks performance What changes when you stop seeing your weaknesses as liabilities and start using them as your most powerful differentiators? How people actually "create" luck Are some people actually luckier, or are they just better trained to notice and act on the chances everyone else ignores? Success becomes addictive once you start helping others Why does coaching, leadership, and mentorship often feel more rewarding than personal wins, and how does that change the way you build your business? Guest Bio Patrick Engasser is an entrepreneur, speaker, coach, and bestselling author of If I Can Do It, You Can Do It. He started his career in the insurance industry as a top sales representative for a Fortune 500 company. He was awarded top-account closer in his third year and promoted to district manager. Patrick went on to recruit, train, and lead a seven-figure sales team while coaching several agents to successful careers in the outside sales world. He has been the recipient of the company's Top Award for Management Excellence three times for his outstanding leadership and ability to coach others to achieve their goals. • Putting Your Money in Buckets Is a Trap, Do This Instead w/ Joseph Kovacevic
    Feb 12 2026
Most people think financial freedom comes from earning more, saving harder, or finding the perfect investment. But the real trap isn't income…it's the way we're taught to store and move money. We're told to separate everything into neat little buckets: checking, savings, mortgage, credit cards, investments. And somehow, even when we're "doing well," the system still feels tight, slow, and exhausting. The traditional system is wildly inefficient by design. A 3–4% mortgage isn't really 3–4% at all. It's closer to 12–15% in simple interest once you account for amortization. Savings accounts paying 1–3% sit right next to debt costing 8–25%, and no one ever teaches us to connect those two dots. We're working hard, being disciplined, and still leaking money through invisible cracks. Instead of playing by those rules, Joseph Kovacevic built a completely different operating system: one pot, one line, one flow. All income goes into a first lien HELOC, and all expenses come out of it. No idle cash, no artificial separation between "good money" and "bad money." How did he go from using money like everyone else to building an entirely different financial system? Why do people struggle so much to understand and actually implement this system? In this episode, entrepreneur, money mentor, and first lien HELOC specialist Joseph Kovacevic breaks down how he's been running this system for over 15 years - from quitting the railroad, to scaling real estate, to using HELOCs and insurance policies as an integrated financial engine. Things You'll Learn In This Episode Your mortgage interest isn't what you think it is A "low" 3–5% mortgage is actually closer to 12–15% in simple interest over 30 years, so what are you really paying for homeownership? Why savings accounts make you poorer, not safer If you're earning 1–3% in savings while paying 8–25% on debt, are you actually saving, or quietly burning money? The one-pot system that replaces budgeting entirely What happens when all income, expenses, investing, and saving run through a single HELOC instead of 10 separate accounts? How to become the bank instead of borrowing from one From infinite banking to lending your own capital at 12%+, how do you turn cash flow into a self-funding wealth machine? Guest Bio Joseph Kovacevic is an entrepreneur, Money Mentor, and first lien HELOC specialist. At 23 years old, he hired out on the railroad for a career that lasted almost 20 years. He has been investing in real estate since 2000. Between managing rental properties and flipping houses, he was able to escape the corporate world and become an entrepreneur. In 2018, he met Chris Naugle at a Home show in Buffalo, NY, and was later introduced to Brent Kesler, who introduced him to IBC. After years of using the Infinite Banking Concept, he now wants to share IBC with everyone. Being a part of The Money School and The Money Multiplier team, he now helps others break away from conformity and pursue their dreams. He is passionate about educating others about the implementation of the Infinite Banking Concept to solve people's money problems. • How to Stop Leaving Money Inside the Tax Code w/ Zach Newberry
    Feb 5 2026

Most high-income earners assume their tax situation is handled once they hire a CPA and start filing. The return gets done, nothing breaks, and it's easy to believe that if something mattered, it would already be happening.

But that assumption quietly costs people money. Not because they're reckless or aggressive, but because compliance gets mistaken for strategy, and basic leverage never gets activated.

Zach Newberry works with business owners and real estate investors who earn well, and still find themselves on the wrong side of the tax game. What he sees over and over isn't missed loopholes or exotic strategies.

It's small, obvious decisions that never get made: spending a few thousand dollars to unlock meaningful capital, revisiting structures that no longer fit, and using rules that already apply but are never deployed.

His perspective reframes taxes as a capital allocation problem, not a paperwork exercise. Instead of focusing on what gets filed, he looks at what gets converted, dollars that would disappear versus dollars that stay in play for the next investment.

In this episode, we talk about why small, inconvenient costs often unlock real leverage, where high earners miss money long before "strategy" even starts, and how rules like the Augusta Rule fit into real life when you understand how to use them.

    About the Guest

Zachary Newberry is a CPA, tax planner, and entrepreneur who works primarily with business owners and real estate investors. His practice focuses on helping clients move beyond basic tax compliance and use the tax code intentionally — connecting entity structure, real estate, income timing, and planning decisions in a way that supports long-term wealth building. He works with real estate investors, real estate-centric businesses, small to mid-sized companies, and high-income individuals. In addition to tax preparation, Zach provides ongoing tax planning and advisory services, accounting and bookkeeping oversight, and strategic consulting for clients who want their tax decisions to function as part of their broader financial and investment strategy — not just something that gets filed once a year.
