Without top players like Djokovic and Alcaraz, as well as a bunch of other top guys, there was some concern that the tournament would not have quality tennis. Instead, the Next Gen Players have risen to the occasion, making statement wins and deep runs in this tournament. This makes it seem as though perhaps players like Jodar and Blockx will be the ones to challenge the Sinner Alcaraz domination in the future. While many people expected Alcaraz to be the favorite in this surface matchup, it ended up being Sinner who rose to the occasion and collected the hardware in the principality. This week Erik and Aidan recap three different ATP 250 tournaments which occurred over this past week. In Houston, Tommy Paul was able to capture the title 10 years after having won his first ATP match in the same tournament. In Marrakech, teenage Spaniard Rafael Jodar was able to place himself in an elite group of Spanish players by collecting the title here, while in Bucharest it was Navone that rose to the occasion. Now in Monte Carlo, the tournament is already underway. Based on the opening rounds, it seems that Sinner and Alcaraz are already on a collision course in their return to clay.
