• Finding Inventory: A Real-World Picking Trip
    Jun 22 2026

John keeps hearing from fellow sellers that they're having a tough time finding inventory this summer. In this episode, we share a few simple sourcing tips (including what we mean by always keeping your "antenna up"), and take you along on another real-world picking trip. This time, it's a couple of garage sales just a short walk from our house. During this trip, we bought: automotive items, barware, DVDs (we also explain why we buy physical media), Christmas collectibles, mid-century pottery, fishing items, baskets, and even carnival and Depression glass. We promise the inventory is out there if you're willing to look for it. Sometimes, finding items to sell is as simple as slowing down, getting out of the car, and giving those neighborhood garage sales a chance.

  • Summer Antique & Collectibles Flips: Vintage Picnic Gear, Lake Finds, Camping Treasures & Christmas Reselling Prep
    Jun 15 2026

Summer is one of the best seasons for antique and collectible sellers (hello, garage sales!), and in this episode, we explore what John has been finding—and selling quickly—right now. That includes everything from vintage picnic items (he had especially good luck with a vintage Coca-Cola cooler) to a specific Tupperware piece you should always keep an eye out for. We also discuss the fishing collectibles that consistently sell, some surprising recent winners (roller skates?), and why you might not want to clean those concrete lawn ornaments, even—or especially—the ones covered in moss. Stay tuned for our section on summer entertaining collectibles, including mid-century barware and ice buckets, plus a conversation about audiobooks (yes, you can absolutely sell physical audiobooks), and why summer is the perfect time for savvy antique dealers to start sourcing inventory for Christmas.

Along the way, we discuss popular categories including deluxe edition books, Fenton glass, cast iron toys, Pokémon cards, antique hand tools, and more. We also talk about why antique dealers and vintage resellers should regularly check their Etsy and eBay analytics to better understand buyer interest and shopping trends. Plus, stay tuned until the end for a real-world shipping story about getting an antique Coca-Cola cooler safely to its new owner. Proof that even large antiques can be shipped successfully!

  • Antique & Collectible Lots: A Reliable Source of Reseller Profit
    May 18 2026

In last week's garage sale episode, we talked about a lot of Pokémon cards purchased for $5 with a potential profit of over $300. We got so many questions about buying lots that we decided to turn it into an entire episode. Here, we're breaking down our process of buying lots, revealing which have yielded the very best (and sometimes surprising) profits: from vintage thimbles, sports memorabilia, antique spoons, blue glass, scarves, barware, enamel pins, and vintage magazines to records, jerseys, and collectible patches. Lots can be time consuming and require tons of patience. But if you'll stick it out, a lot can be a fantastic way to turn a small investment into hundreds of dollars of profit.

  • World’s Fair Collectibles: Chicago 1893, St. Louis 1904, 1933 Century of Progress & 1964 New York Fair
    May 4 2026

Technically, the World's Fair still exists...but it's not the event to Americans it once was. In this episode, we explore how historic World’s Fairs (from the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition and the 1904 St. Louis Louisiana Purchase Exposition to the 1933-34 Century of Progress and the 1964 New York World’s Fair) shaped culture and modern life, introducing electricity, the Ferris Wheel, early radios, Art Deco design, and even the spread of iconic foods. For us, it means there's a wide range of collectible items like souvenir spoons, commemorative glassware, advertising pieces, ephemera, postcards, guidebooks, and early plastic souvenirs. If you’re an antiques dealer, vintage reseller, or collector, you'll love this introduction to World’s Fair history, memorabilia, and high-demand collectible categories. After listening, you'll be able to better identify pieces that have a wide collector base and recognize why these global exhibitions, once the ultimate “influencer events," still impact what sells today.
