  • Sabres On Brink Following Pathetic Loss, Plus Bills Schedule Drops (LIVE Reaction)
    May 15 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Steve Bermel for instant live reaction to game five as the Buffalo Sabres blew multiple early leads in losing (badly) to Montreal that has them on the brink of elimination, in addition to official release of the NFL/Buffalo Bills 2026 regular season schedule.

The Sabres scored three times in their home arena in the first period, yet went into the locker room down two goals after 40 minutes. Any chance of a comeback ended shortly into the third after a Rasmus Dahlin penalty led to Montreal's sixth goal. To call it all an implosion is accurate if not an understatement. The guys have a ton of of takes and spoiler alert----- optimistic Sabres fans probably won't like it.

Meanwhile, the guys pour over a lot of the bigger details from the 2026 schedule unveiling. The Bills have six (!) prime time games this season including Thanksgiving night, and that's not including a late afternoon showdown on the road at Denver on Christmas day. To say for better or worse the Bills will be in the national spotlight a lot this season is an understatement.

The guys go over what they like and disliked the most about the looks of the Bills schedule, which ranges from the perfect opponent to be playing coming off their bye (Baltimore), to three straigh home games against good, an expected brutally hard five game stretch late in the season to two extremely winnable games at the end should the Bills absolutely need to have them. That and plenty more.

  • Unsolved Mysteries Of The Buffalo Bills
    May 14 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss some of the biggest unsolved mysteries of the Buffalo Bills as they get ready for training camp pretty soon.

Teams around the league have plenty of question marks and underdetermined things that will play out through the course of the summer before the regular season starts in September and the Bills are no exception. The guys discuss some of them including what the defensive tackle position will look in turns of personnel and the depth chart, does the organization like young veteran linebacker Joe Andreesssen more than we think---a reason why they didn't do anything too major in addressing the position.

Also, the starters in the secondary seem set but if the unit can remain healthy this summer, who has the best chance of getting snaps as the dime defensive back in some packages?

On the offensive side of the ball, what's the pecking order between Josh Palmer, Keon Coleman and Skyler Bell going to be? Are we going to see a legit starting left guard battle at camp? Is Dalton Kincaid quietly in line for his breakout season? Will an undrafted free agent make the 53-man roster? What will Joe Brady's team and coaching routine look like at camp?

Also, Matt has thoughts on the Bills opening up Highmark Stadium on Thursday Night Football, the signing of edge rusher Mike Danna this week and plenty more.

  • A "Special" Kind Of Sabres Game Four Win (LIVE Reaction)
    May 13 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Steve Bermel just minutes after the Buffalo Sabres, despite being outplayed for a lot of the game, beat the Montreal Canadiens on the road, 3-2 to even their series at two wins apiece.

UPL was shaky in the first period in net for Buffalo, given up two goals before locking down Montreal over the last 40 minutes. Meanwhile, the Sabres scored two power plays goals (one extremely fluky) and killed off six of seven Montreal power plays to key their victory. The guys have plenty to say about all that and also the play of Josh Norris, who Patrick considered crucial to Buffalo's victory.

The guys also have a lot of strong feelings about some horrible officiating and an even worse perspective from the ESPN broadcast that felt biased, one sided and often uninformed.

Also, it's been officially announced that the Bills will open the new Highmark Stadium in Week Two on Thursday Night Football against the Detroit Lions. What do the guys think? That and plenty more today.

  • Can Lindy Ruff Right Sabres Ship Before It's Too Late?
    May 12 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran wonders if Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff can get things fixed with his ailing team before it's too late.

The Sabres haven't just lost consecutive games to Montreal in the playoffs to fall down two games to one but they've barely looked remotely competitive in doing so. They've struggled in their own zone badly and haven't been much better in sustaining offensive pressure either. They've been lousy on faceoffs, taken far too many penalties and have had a host of poor individual efforts so far this series.

Patrick discusses the options Lindy has when it comes to the lineup and if he'll make some changes that seem needed, or will he continue to show confidence in a lineup that's quite frankly looking like fools gold.

All this said, not all hope is lost. Patrick explains how just putting one winning performance on Tuesday night, whether it's pretty or uglied up puts the Sabres right back in great position to take control of the series with home ice advantage. But the time is literally now, because if Buffalo loses game four Patrick feels this series is over.

That plus the Bills make a free agent signing and plenty more.

  • The Sabres Are In Big Trouble (LIVE Game Three Reaction)
    May 11 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens just minutes after the conclusion of the Buffalo Sabres going down two games to one in their playoff series against Montreal, and looking in big, big trouble in doing so.

The Buffalo Sabres can absolutely still win this series, but it would be naive if not foolish to conclude they look like a team that's better or even as good as Montreal right now. The guys talk about how the Sabres look like they're in big trouble, and Lindy Ruff is going to have figure some things out and make some lineup and line pairing changes before game four. This team feels stale, flat and most importantly, outgunned right now.

Make sure to check outJoe From Queen’s Substack page for his free weekly columns.

  • Sabres Find Opportunity To Take Command
    May 8 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran has plenty of thoughts on the Buffalo Sabres taking the opening game of their playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens and some key factors going into game two on Friday night.

It's not surprising that Sabres held court to open the series with a win at home in the Key Bank Center, but a few of the biggest reasons why aren't necessarily what most expected. Patrick talks about the incredible effort of fourth line winger Jordan Greenway and middle line center Ryan McLeod really giving the offense a kick start and propelling Buffalo--on a night where they simply didn't get effective play from their top line of Tage Thompson, Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs.

Patrick also has thoughts on the great coaching of Lindy Ruff late in this game, particularly in the third period as the Sabres played a sound, mature brand of hockey playing with the lead to close out the Canadians in game one.

Will Sam Carrick be back in the lineup for game two? Patrick thinks he should be if fully ready to go but doubts it will happen. That plus Kris Baker takes a well deserved shot at Patrick, pushing back at a few fans on social media and plenty more.

  • Sabres Take Game One Over Montreal (LIVE Reaction)
    May 7 2026

On today's Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by broadcaster Steve Bermel for tons of live reaction just moments after the Buffalo Sabres defeat the Montreal Canadiens, 4-2 to take game one of the Eastern Conference semifinals

The Sabres were opportunistic in scoring four goals over the first two periods before tightening up things on defense over the final 20 minutes to take the opening game of the series. The guys discuss the good, bad and ugly of everything they saw.

  • Bills Draft Addition Quickly Making More Sense
    May 6 2026

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss a handful of Buffalo Bills and NFL topics, including some data uncovered that shows the Bills taking a cornerback in the second round wasn't nearly the reach many critics thought it was.

Buffalo Rumblings (the Bills blog on SB Nation) had an article published by new lead content producer Chris Trapasso with data that shows that non-starting Bills cornerbacks have played plenty during their lengthy/current playoff run. So much so, in fact that it makes their second-round selection of Davison Igbinosun feel a lot wiser, even though he's not projected to be a starter and may not be a starter for years to come. The guys discuss the data and cite examples even casual Bills fans will remember from recent playoff failures as a reason why you need to have not just depth at cornerback, but the highest quality depth possible.

Also, the NFL draft has come and gone and we're nearly a week into May, yet eight(!) of the Bills top 14 defensive players from last year are still unsigned free agents. What does that say about the talent from last year's defensive unit and/or what does that say about former head coach (and de facto defensive coordinator) Sean McDermott?

Who are three current Bills players that it would be easy to be completely undecided on how you feel about their prospects for the 2026 season? Patrick takes a stab at it. That plus Matt does an AFC reverse power rankings, which NFL team could be the league's biggest flop this year and plenty more.

You can also check out Buffalo Rumblings to stay updated with Chris Trapasso and his staff's excellent work there.
