  • "Overnight Success" Is Usually 15+ Years of Invisible Work | Manager Jon
    May 22 2026
Manager Jon has worked with TikTok, brokered KSI fights, built podcast studios, and managed some of the biggest creators on the internet.

But that's only half of it, the version everyone sees.

He’s spent years grinding through YouTube channels through a difficult childhood. After one rough night with his dad, his mom tried to comfort him with, "It's okay, son. We were never made to get out."

As he sat on the steps as a young man, Jon decided those words were a lie which he refused to accept.

We talked through the full arc:
→ How a high school video with 3 million views accidentally launched his career
→ Why the barber shop failure was the moment he finally understood what he was building
→ The King's Table framework for surrounding yourself with the right advisors
→ How he found a blue ocean in the construction industry by solving a problem nobody else was addressing
→ Why pricing too low actually harms your clients

So many times, we look at personal and professional wins without knowing the failures and heartache it took to get there.

Jon, thank you for coming back on. It’s always awesome getting to talk and work with you!

    Apr 10 2026
At 40, Mike “C-Roc” Ciorrocco had everything most people chase.

He went on a self-discovery journey, started surrounding himself with mentors who had what he wanted, and made one commitment: getting on podcasts to build relationships, and eventually- see where it leads.

What it led to was over 2,000 podcast appearances, a top-tier booking agency called That1 Agency, a WhatsApp community of 600+ operators and founders, and a philosophy around performance, proximity, and getting out of your own way.

    We covered:
→ Why 95-99% of your time in early business should go toward generating revenue
→ How to "buy time" from people instead of trying to manage more of your own
→ The outcome question that tripled their clients in a single month
→ Why confronting problems fast is the most underrated business skill

Mike said he wakes up every morning pretending nobody's ever heard of him, after building one of the top podcast booking firms in North America… what a mindset!!

Thank you Mike for hopping on and sharing your story, the dark years, the refunds, the doubt, and the version of yourself that had to shed to get here. Talking with you was a blast!

  • The CEO Who Built a Cybersecurity Company Without Knowing IT | Matt Loria
    Mar 27 2026
Matt Loria built a top-tier cybersecurity and IT firm without a single tech degree or certification.

Back when he and his brother ran a computer recycling business, they went repeatedly through IT providers. It was always the same: things started great, then the service just vanished. When Matt eventually told his brother he was starting his own IT firm, his brother pointed out the obvious.. "You don't know anything about IT."

But Matt knew exactly what it looked like when someone did it wrong, and he knew how to fix it.

That gap became the foundation for Auxiom. By bringing in a technical co-founder and focusing on the service and culture the industry was missing, he turned the company into a gold standard. Today, Auxiom handles everything from network security to AI readiness for massive, billion-dollar companies.

    We covered:
→ Why antivirus software alone leaves your business dangerously exposed
→ What a cyber attack actually costs after the breach (the rebuilding is worse than the hack)
→ How AI has supercharged the threat landscape and what the good guys are doing to keep up
→ Why every executive needs 30-60 minutes a day inside AI tools right now
→ And why Matt interviews a candidate's spouse before making a major hire

One major takeaway: owners can't vision cast for something they don't know exists. That’s why it’s imperative every business owner gets their hands dirty with AI.

Thank you Matt for coming to the studio and for sharing your story and expertise. It was a blast talking to you man!

  • From Mud Hut in Liberia to Coaching Nonprofits Across 3 Countries | Chris Lambert
    Mar 20 2026
Most people who want to change the world start with a cause, not with Chris Lambert, ‘coz he started with a crisis…

Chris Lambert, Founder & CEO of Next Level Nonprofit, grew up in a small town in northern Indiana, gave his faith the finger at 16, then spent six years chasing whatever he thought would make him happy, but no, it didn't, then there became a chance encounter at a church service in Australia, and when he came home, he wasn't the same person who'd left.

    We covered:
→ How Chris's faith journey, from a small-town kid to a mud hut in Liberia, shaped everything he built after
→ What Life Remodeled actually did in Detroit and why the Gallup results shocked even him
→ The $300,000 check that completely rewired how he thinks about fundraising and donor relationships
→ How Indiana University's 16-0 season explains the one principle that separates great organizations from struggling ones

There's a line Chris said that I keep thinking about, that is "Sometimes you just have to take the step forward even if you don't really know where it's going." He's done that more times than most people would be comfortable with, and it's produced something remarkable every single time!

Chris, thank you for being so open about the whole journey, not just the wins. The stories you brought into this room were the kind that stay with you.

  • 83% of Realtors Don't Make It Five Years. Here's Why. | Donny Samson
    Mar 13 2026
Most people think real estate is easy money.

    Donny Samson knows better.

He got his license at 22, just because a friend did it first and his wife said, "If he can do it, you can." His first two commissions paid for her engagement ring. He was hooked.

But building a career is one thing. Building a company is another. When his dad handed him the keys to Samson Properties and made him CEO in 2019, Donny had to learn fast what separates a great realtor from a great leader. Spoiler: it's not the same skillset. He hired the wrong managers. He watched a title company he co-owned spend years digging out from bad hires and broken trust. He navigated a housing crash, a national lawsuit, and a real estate market that has posted record low sales three years in a row.

    And he kept going.

Today Samson Properties is the number one brokerage in the DMV, with 6,500 agents across 49 offices. They built their own title company. They run on a 100% commission model. And Donny still shows up to teach in a different office every Wednesday.

    We covered:
→ Why 83% of realtors don't make it past five years and what brokerages owe them
→ How the private listings controversy is quietly hurting buyers and sellers
→ What the NAR lawsuit actually changed (and what it didn't)
→ Why he'd rather leave a manager seat empty for six months than hire the wrong person
→ How he thinks about growth without losing what made the company worth growing

The thing that stuck with me most from this conversation: Donny never stopped thinking like a realtor. Even as CEO, he's still thinking about the person sitting across the table trying to buy or sell their biggest asset. That perspective is rare. It's also, I think, exactly why Samson keeps growing.

Donny, thank you for being so open and for sharing your passion for this industry. I also appreciate you speaking directly about topics that many people in your position might avoid. This one was a blast.

  • No One Wants Their Legacy Buried: Herman Moore on Football and Business
    Mar 9 2026
Most people know Herman Moore as the Detroit Lions' greatest wide receiver. The records. The Pro Bowls.

What they don't know is what happened after.

Herman left the NFL and walked straight into one of the hardest seasons of his life. Business. He lost nearly everything. Got told no by banks, investors, and people who couldn't see past the helmet. He had to rebuild from scratch, in a world that kept boxing him in as just an athlete. He didn't leave. He didn't quit. He stayed in Michigan, bet on himself when no one else would, and eventually built one of the largest Cinnabon franchise operations in the country, owning the entire Michigan market and expanding into Florida.

But this conversation goes deeper than franchise wins. Herman talks about the version of himself that almost walked away from football after his rookie year. About the coaching change that broke his trust in the game. About watching his legacy sit in Barry Sanders' shadow for decades and not being sure who gets to tell your story.

    We covered:
→ How Herman lost nearly everything in business and what it took to rebuild
→ What it's really like sharing a legacy with one of the greatest players in NFL history
→ Why athletes are uniquely vulnerable when they leave sports and how Herman navigated it
→ The real fear he carries as an entrepreneur that most people would never admit

Thank you, Herman, for giving this conversation everything. For being honest about the lows that most people keep private and for showing up with the same energy you brought on every Sunday in the Silver Dome.

  • How a 5-Minute Elevator Conversation Led to a Career at Mercedes-Benz | Amy Wang
    Feb 27 2026
Amy Wang spent over 20 years building a career she never planned.

She started premed at Michigan State University simply because she liked school — until she realized she couldn’t handle blood. Needing to graduate on time without extra loans, she switched to industrial-organizational psychology, not fully knowing what it was, just that it fit.

That uncertainty became a pattern. Not in a reckless way. In a way where the right things kept showing up when she stopped forcing them.

Eventually a friend told her Mercedes-Benz was hiring. She didn't have an HR title at the time. But she had the background, the instinct for building teams, and years of standing up shared services in IT and healthcare. She got the role. Then her boss left. And Amy became Head of HR for Mercedes-Benz North America, overseeing shared services across five countries.

    We talked about:
→ How Amy went from premed to Head of HR at Mercedes-Benz through a series of unplanned turns
→ Why her best career moves were the ones that found her, not the ones she chased
→ What business owners get wrong about employee culture and why people need to feel like they're on the team

Sitting with Amy reminded me that the most interesting careers rarely follow a straight line. Sometimes the best thing you can do is stop gripping the wheel so hard and let the next thing come to you.

Amy, thank you for being so open about a career that didn't follow the script. The way you talked about helping people find their strengths and grow into what they're capable of, that energy came through the whole conversation. I'm excited to see what finds you next.
