• Why Discipline Stops Working | Biblical Wisdom for Burnout, Striving & Spiritual Exhaustion
    Apr 27 2026

"Discipline has real value because it will build upon your habits, it will protect your integrity, and it helps you to keep promises after your motivation fades. But it was never meant to become your god, because when this is the only tool you trust, there will come a moment when it begins to harden parts of your heart that were meant to remain tender." —Don Wood

Have you ever felt like the habits, routines, and discipline that once helped you grow suddenly stopped working?

In this powerful episode, we explore why discipline stops working, especially in seasons of burnout, emotional exhaustion, spiritual dryness, and identity shifts.

  • Why High-Performing Men Feel Disconnected and How to Reclaim Purpose
    Apr 20 2026

"Placing God into your identity with honesty, rather than performance, opens the door for a level of restoration that cannot be achieved through effort alone." —Don Wood

What happens when the very strength that built your life begins to distance you from it?

He reframes strength through a biblical lens, highlighting the model of Jesus and the importance of intentional withdrawal, restoration, and internal alignment.

This episode offers a deeper understanding of why successful men can feel disconnected despite outward success, along with practical guidance for reconnecting with themselves, their purpose, and their relationship with God.

If you have ever felt like you are showing up fully for everyone else while becoming less present in your own life, this message will give you language, clarity, and a path forward.

    In This Episode, You'll Learn:

    • Why high-performing men often experience disconnection despite success

  • What Happens When Leadership Is Re-Anchored from the Inside Out
    Apr 6 2026

"Leadership is exhausting when it's built on effort alone. It becomes steady when it's anchored in your soul. Now, the world will always demand more from you, but your strength was never meant to come from the world. It's from the ONE who placed you where you are in your life." —Don Wood

What if the reason your leadership feels heavy isn't your workload… but where it's coming from?

In this episode, we unpack the subtle but powerful shift that happens when leadership drifts to the outside and what it looks like to re-anchor it from within.

Many high-capacity men are dependable, responsible, and successful on the surface… yet internally feel tension, fatigue, and a quiet sense of disconnection.

If you've been leading from effort instead of conviction, this episode will help you recognize the signs and show you the path back.

Rooted in biblical truth like Bible passages (Hebrews 6:19, Psalm 46, John 15), this conversation reframes leadership as something that begins in the soul.

    What You'll Learn

    • The hidden cost of leading from the outside (control, pressure, fatigue)
    • How to recognize when your soul is no longer anchored
    • The difference between effort-driven leadership vs. anchored leadership
    • Why rest doesn't come from doing less, but from being rooted
    • How faith and leadership reconnect when you return to your center
    • The role of abiding (John 15) in sustainable leadership

Leadership becomes exhausting when it's built on effort alone. It becomes steady when it's anchored in your soul.

You were never meant to carry everything. You're to remain connected to the One who sustains you.

    00:33 When Leadership Drifts

    03:16 When Does Rest Happen?

    Meet Gerard:

Dr. Gerard Cascio is a retired dentist from Beaumont, Texas, who began his private practice in 1980 during a period of steep interest rates and economic hardship in the region.

Educated in Catholic schools, he built his career on a deeply held Christian faith and the conviction that people must first know how much you care before they care how much you know.

Over more than four decades, his practice grew primarily through word of mouth, driven by a personal, relationship-centered approach and a commitment to treating every patient as he would his own family.

Gerard and his wife Brenda, married for over 47 years, have three daughters and a growing legacy of grandchildren whose faith and character are central to his sense of purpose.

Shaped by his parents' missionary work in El Salvador and Guatemala, he has instilled in his family a heart for service, gratitude, and generosity.

After surviving a major four-way bypass surgery in his late sixties, Gerard's focus has turned even more toward legacy, spiritual leadership, and investing in his family.

Now retired, he spends his time caring for his grandchildren, supporting extended family, and modeling humble, faith-driven leadership with eternity in view.
