    Kathy (M.K.) McDaniel had a near-death experience while in a medically-induced coma from severe pneumonia. What she witnessed during those moments of clinical death challenges everything we think we know about consciousness and what happens after we die. Her experience included terrifying visions followed by profound joy, providing compelling evidence that awareness continues beyond physical death.

    Kathy was raised Catholic and believed everything she was taught about the afterlife, including concepts of purgatory and hell. When she fell critically ill in Seattle, she was put into a drug-induced coma with only a 38 percent chance of survival. During that coma, she had an extensive near-death experience that lasted what felt like years. She witnessed dark, disturbing scenes and confusing scenarios. But the experience shifted dramatically, revealing something that transformed her entire understanding of existence.

    What makes Kathy's case compelling is the contrast between the terrifying visions and the profound joy that followed. She describes the experience in her book Misfit in Hell to Heaven. Her story raises important questions about consciousness, the nature of the afterlife, and whether our beliefs shape our experiences when we die.
