Whittlecombe. A charming and peaceful village in the south west part of England. All thatched cottages and winding country lanes, triangle sandwiches, cream teas, and picture postcard perfection. But people are dropping like flies. It’s just the flu, right? Could be. Except, wonkiest witch Alfhild Daemonne is about to host the vampire wedding of the century at Whittle Inn. Coincidence? Perhaps, Alf’s fangtastic guests are to blame? Or could bitter arch rivals "the Mori" be making a move on Alf and her wonky inn once more? Is feisty Alf fighting back? You bet she is!

After hosting a diabolical vampire wedding last Halloween, Alf had imagined that Whittle Inn had seen the last of those long-toothed monsters. She’d pointedly barred them from ever setting foot or fang in her part of the English countryside again. But since then, one thing has continued to bother our favourite wonkiest witch. Who killed the handsome young vampire Thaddeus? And why?

When journalist and part-time witch Clarissa Page first meets Toby, she thinks she’s getting a quiet companion. What she gets is a furball with opinions, secrets and more than a touch of magic. Together, they form the least conventional (but most adorable) crime-fighting duo the West Country has ever seen.

Yip! Yip! Yoo-ray! Toby’s back for a new adventure! It’s not everyday that a dog launches his own criminal investigation. But Toby’s not an everyday kind of dog. When he’s alerted to a local case of puppynapping, Toby tries to get his humans to take action. Unfortunately, the local police aren’t overly concerned about one missing pooch, and Clarissa, Toby’s witch owner, is rather preoccupied with her new job and an ex-boyfriend. When one missing puppy becomes two … and then three and four … Toby recognises the need for urgent action.

Okay, it's not riveting stuff but it's important. The day a cute but pushy pussycat arrives at her apartment complex, so does a grotty old journal full of blank pages. The producers of Witchflix TV favorite The Great Witchy Cake Off are searching for somewhere new to base the filming of their next series. Naturally, Alfhild Daemonne, a long time fan of all things cakey, invites them to Whittle Inn. But what seemed like a great opportunity for a little harmless Wonky Inn self-promotion backfires when, at dawn on the first day of filming, one of the contestants is found toes-up outside the famous marquee.

Lisa’s mother is dying. But Lisa doesn’t care.... Now in her early 40s, and with her life disintegrating around her, she’s been forced to return to her childhood home where the memories of her father and brother have long been repressed. When the Victorian villa across the road goes up for sale, Lisa is naturally curious. One old woman has owned the property her whole life, and Lisa has never been allowed to step into the grounds before. Now an odd young stranger invites her to explore the garden...but only after midnight.

Or so says the owner of the Magical Emporium, Mister Magigi, a monkey wizard long renowned for spinning a good yarn. In Sugar Plum Scary, he recounts the story of a beautiful, intelligent, and benevolent queen, adored by all of her subjects. Except for one. And as Mister Magigi explains, while Queen Sugar Plum imagines she’ll live happily ever after, that one man is determined to make her life a misery.

Gutgelaunt und voller Energie kehrt Alfhild Deamonne aus ihrem Urlaub zurück. Doch mit der Erholung ist es schnell vorbei, als im Whittle Inn ein Skelett gefunden wird. Alf ist entsetzt und tut alles, um herauszufinden, um wen es sich bei dem Toten handelt und wie er ums Leben gekommen ist. In welcher Verbindung stand der Verstorbene zu Alfs Gasthaus? Warum wurde er dort begraben? Haben ihre Vorfahren etwas mit dem Tod zu tun, sodass sie der Familie des Opfers möglicherweise eine Entschädigung schuldet?

Was ist bloß los im Shady Wood? Die Pflanzen und Bäume sterben, und wer mit dem Wasser dort in Berührung kommt, wird krank. Zwei Bewohner von Whittlecombe sind bereits im Krankenhaus, und dann erwischt es auch noch die Eule Mr. Hoo. Alf, die Wirtin des Whittle Inn und Besitzerin des Shady Wood, ist untröstlich. Und als wäre das alles nicht schon schlimm genug, macht man sie für das Unglück verantwortlich. Doch schnell findet sie heraus, wer die wahren Schuldigen sind: ihre alten Rivalen, die Mori.

In Whittlecombe findet ein ganz besonderer Jahrmarkt statt: Alfs Konkurrent, der Betreiber des Hay Loft, hat Wahrsager, Runenleser, Medizinmänner und sogar eine Voodoo-Priesterin aus New Orleans eingeladen. So etwas hat es hier noch nie gegeben! Eine tolle Gelegenheit für Alf, neue Freunde zu finden. Ihr Gasthaus läuft gut, und nach all der Aufregung der letzten Monate sehnt sie sich nach ein wenig Abwechslung und Entspannung. Doch daraus wird nichts, denn sie ist auf dem Jahrmarkt nicht erwünscht.

Whittlecombe – ein charmantes, friedliches Dorf im Südwesten Englands, mit reetgedeckten Häuschen, verwinkelten Gassen, leckeren Käse-Sandwiches und dem traditionellen Tee am Nachmittag. Doch plötzlich werden die Bewohner krank, einer nach dem anderen. Bestimmt ist es nur die Grippe, oder? Könnte sein. Allerdings plant Alfhild Daemonne gerade die Vampirhochzeit des Jahrhunderts in ihrem Hexengasthaus. Ist das alles reiner Zufall, oder haben die Ereignisse im Dorf mit Alfs ungewöhnlichen Gästen zu tun?

Mit ihren Geistern kommt Alf immer besser klar, nicht jedoch mit ihren inneren Dämonen. Nacht für Nacht liegt sie wach und grübelt über die jüngsten Ereignisse in ihrem Leben. Und als wäre das nicht genug, wird ihre Ruhe zusätzlich von einem jämmerlich heulenden Geist gestört. Er ist völlig verzweifelt, denn jemand versucht, ihn umzubringen. Wer ist diese traurige Gestalt, und wie tötet man jemanden, der bereits tot ist? Um das herauszufinden, macht sich Alfhild Daemonne auf die Suche nach Antworten, und ehe sie sich versieht, befindet sie sich mitten in einem neuen Abenteuer.

Alfhild Daemonne hat ein Gasthaus geerbt. Und eine unbekannte Leiche. Seit einem Zerwürfnis mit ihrer Mutter, einer angesehenen Hexe, führt sie einen eher unsteten und gänzlich unmagischen Lebenswandel. Nun ist sie dreißig und selbst überrascht über ihren Entschluss, ein neues Leben zu beginnen. Kurzerhand macht sich Alf auf den Weg ins ländliche Devon, um das einst beliebte Gasthaus neu zu eröffnen. Als sie einen Toten auf ihrer Türschwelle findet, ahnt sie schon bald: Hier ist dunkle Magie im Spiel.
