This was an unusual story but I actually enjoyed it. It was unusual in that the story is told from the perspective of the dog but with puppies having been stolen who better to investigate than other dogs? This did lead to some complications like how to travel around or even to question human suspects for clues but the author and by extension Toby got around them nicely. I do think this might be aimed at a more younger age group than myself but I still enjoyed the mayhem and problem solving skills of Spellbound hound. I couldn't help but picture the Disney film 101 Dalmatians as the story unfolded, just add in a little magic and you have a fun unusual cozy mystery full of loveable dogs.

With his human busy with work and an ex boyfriend back in town, it's up to Toby to investigate when his friends turn up with some troubling news. Puppies are being stolen and the humans aren't doing anything about it. Toby quickly learns that puppies from other places are also going missing. Can Toby and his band of misfit dogs follow up on the clue of a pink car being seen in the vicinity of the last disappearance? Will they be able to save the puppies and possibly themselves?

I liked the narrator. He did some very interesting and funny voices to give each dog there own personality and voice.

This is a very good listen, there is plenty of humors and a unique insight into the canine way of looking and thinking about things. This is a great mystery. the narration is excellent.

The new narrator, David Winter gets kudos for all the different accents from, especially the Welsh accent for the Welsh Corgies! However, his voice for Clarissa makes her sound like an elderly croaky woman. I loved the continuation of Toby and his friends sleuthing adventures to find the stolen puppies and bringing light onto this real life issue.
