I am a poor, wandering hobo with nothing in my pockets. I see a smooth round stone by the river bank and pick it up. It’s a cold, windy day. There’s a house. I hope that they can spare some food for a hungry hobo. Brrr! It’s cold. I will politely tap on the front door. A family comes outside. The father says, “I’m sorry. We have no food for strangers.”

Similes are words that can make you smile. Similes (sim-uh-leez) are words that compare two different things. Similes have either the word “like” or the word “as”. Have fun making up your own similes. But be careful! Not all similes make people smile. See if you can think about and figure out the meaning of each simile before you hear the possible answers.

Hyperbole (HIGH-purr-buh-lee) are groups of words that exaggerate to make a point. If you say I have a ton of work, you don’t really have 2,000 pounds of work. You overstate to make the point that you have lots of work to do. See if you can guess the meaning of these hyperbole before you listen for possible answers. There can be many other possible answers for them that are not stated.

This is a retelling of The Emperor's New Clothes for you to find the meaning. The Emperor loves to tell jokes. They are very corny jokes. What you might call “dad jokes.” His subjects politely laugh at his puns. More than telling witticisms, the Emperor loves to have new clothes. He cares more about his clothes than his subjects or the kingdom. Both are doing poorly. But, his royal highness is bored with the clothes he has purchased. The Emperor does not like any of the new clothes that he is shown.

There was a crooked man, and he had a crooked hat. He had a crooked smile. What do you think of that? Crooked arms and legs had he. His bow tie looked so funny.

The seashore, foreshore, or intertidal zone is the place that is above water at low tide and below water at high tide. This is also called the tidal range.

You do not have do everything on your bucket list, and you can change your list anytime you feel like it. Finally, you do not have to make a bucket list. This is a bucket list of some of the famous landmarks found in the United States of America that you might visit. This list is not complete. You may think of others.

A messenger says that the mayor of Hamlin begs me to come right away. He disappears quickly. I wonder what the mayor wants?"

Chicken Little is based on an ancient fable. An acorn falls on top of his head. He runs around telling everyone that the sky is falling. Guess the meaning of this fable after listening. Possible answers are given at the end of the story.
