تدور القصة حول رجل يتلقى رسائل متكررة من أهله تخبره بأن أمه تقوم بتصرفات "لا تليق"، ما يضعه في حالة نفسية معقدة من الغضب، الحيرة، والعار. بينما يُطالب بتحمّل مسؤولية ما يحدث، يشعر بأنه مستهدف من دون إخوته رغم أنهم كُثر وموزعون في أنحاء الوطن. تتوفى الأم فجأة، فيعود إلى قريته لحضور جنازتها، مثقلًا بالأسئلة والذكريات، وممزقًا بين حبه العميق لها واشتباهه في أنها قامت بأمر مخزٍ. في المأتم، يلتقي برجل غريب يخبره أن "العاشق" سيزور قبر أمه في السحر.
