As the return of the Lord draws near there has never been a time when effective prayer is more strategic, necessary, and essential than now. Will we be a people who will truly watch and pray? I sought for a man among them, that should build up the wall, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found none (Ezekiel 22:30).

The story of Halford House began sixty years ago. Most of those who were part of the original story are now with the Lord. Recently, the Lord spoke to me about setting down in writing my recollections of the story before I myself go to be with Him. I have taken the title of this book from the decree of Cyrus concerning the recovery and rebuilding of the Temple, the House of the Lord in Jerusalem.

Woven into the fabric of Jewish existence there is an undeniable uniqueness. Israel’s terrain, her history and chief city, all owe their uniqueness to the fact that God’s appointed Savior for the world was born a Jew. His destiny and theirs are forever intertwined. There is bitter controversy over the subject of Israel, but time itself will establish the truth about this nation’s place in God’s plan. For Lance Lambert, the Lord Jesus is the key that unlocks Jewish history. He is the key not only to their fall, but also to their restoration.

This volume begins the study of the Word of God at the very beginning: the book of Genesis. These teachings were compiled from a series Lance shared with the brothers and sisters at Halford House in Richmond, Surrey. Lance went back through this series later in life and provided a study guide to accompany these lessons. The guide is included to help enhance your study. This volume is derived from actual Bible studies and has been kept close to the original with very minor edits.
