I was paddling hard with the wind and waves coming across my port bow. The storm had calmed down a bit and I was making a mile long mad dash from The Evergreen State College Beach to Young Cove. To the right inside Young Cove was my lagoon and my Madrona tree to which I tie up my various small water craft.

It's time to rethink the rules that keep us from living life in full color...and break them! Time is too short not to eat a slice of cake for breakfast - especially our own birthday cake, if we are blessed to live another year to enjoy it. Rules are made to be broken! Here, Jill Weber explains why women feel forced into a male model of dating that barters sex for the unrealistic hope that it will lead to emotional intimacy. What it leads to for the woman, most often, is disappointment, despair, and impaired self-esteem. "Sextimacy", as Weber terms it, traps women in relationships that are one-sided and lack emotional intimacy. When this happens, women routinely blame themselves instead of realizing they should blame their romantic strategy.

I met Cheryl in January 2015 after she moved into the complex where I was living. After talking with her for a while, we became friends. She had told me some of what she had gone through with abuse in the past, and wanted me to write a book about her life. This book is a true story of the life of Cheryl as told to me by Cheryl herself. With tears in her eyes, she recalls past events of hardships and cruelty.

August 2014: I set my trusty 14-foot kayak in my lagoon. It was a rising tide heading south, and I had several hours before it reversed and dumped some 13 or more feet of water out of the inlet. Eld Inlet is approximately six nautical miles long. The southern two miles can be navigated only at high tide. It turns into a mud flat and a shellfish farm at low tide. At high tide it is a pristine water way of immense beauty.
