Mercer
When my high school crush, Gawain, walks into Fifties diner on that February evening, ten years after walking out of my life, I’m stunned. He's still hot, and I still can't resist him. We share a meal that leads to a whole lot more. But when he reveals the truth he hid ten years ago, I have to face the decision of sending him away forever or living with the hurt he’s caused.

This is a sweet, but super-short story about a second chance. It’s more like a prologue about a long-time absence, family issues, an unexpected reunion. The ending was surprising and I wish the story had been a bit longer.
I liked Mercer, but I don’t like the dynamic between Mercer and Gawain. This one didn't feel real to me without me being able to put my finger on it.
Michael Dean did a great job as always. He has a pleasant voice and he portrayes the emotions well.

This is really more like a prologue.
It is a second chance story. Ten years have passed when Mercer and Gawain come face to face with each other. Neither expect to discover what has happened to the other. I would have liked this better if it were longer but for a short story is is a good quick read.

So I'm not completely sure how I feel about this one. I'm thinking it's more a 3.5. While I enjoyed the meet cute and knew it was going to move super fast, it's only half an hour so it has to be fast paced, it was the twist that has me not sure how I really feel about this story and then on top of that was the reaction from Mercer. He was too okay with the twist lol or maybe it's just me, I know I wouldn't have been as chill as him. I enjoyed the snippet of them after that night and I really liked both characters, I feel this would be a good story to flesh out more. As he usually does, the narrator did a great job.

A case of intentional misidentification.
Mercer is shy and a bit awkward.
He had to put his life and dreams on hold in order to raise his siblings after their parents death.
Gwain is half of a twin duo, his brother Gio the other.
Gwain suddenly appears in town after being gone 10 years and Mercer had a crush on him in high school.
He proposes going home with Mercer and he quickly agrees.
They share a steamy encounter and Gwain, actually Gio confesses the truth to Mercer.
Thankfully Mercer is understanding and decides to give Gio the opportunity to make amends for his not so great past and begin a good future together with him.
Michael Dean did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

This is a great short story with lots of heat. I did wish it was longer and that Mercer wasn't as forgiving as he were. Both characters are interesting with interesting backgrounds, so this book could be a prequel to a full length book. I think the characters have enough umph to carry a longer story.
