Rick McManus spent decades as a journalist — Voice of America, the Christian Science Monitor — reporting across borders on things that mattered. He learned that information travels but doesn't always land. So he became a novelist. His climate survival novel Empty Earth has been downloaded more than 9,000 times across four countries. His YA novel Athena tells the story of a sixteen-year-old who decides the adults have had long enough. It is set in the world we're trying to prevent, before it becomes the world Eva inherits in Empty Earth. He wrote both books for his granddaughters. For the world they will face and the belief that they won't face it alone. He lives in Chesterfield, Missouri.
