Summary

Return to the Innverse in Fae & Fare, the second novel in the massive epic fantasy world that has become a LitRPG sensation, where cities are rebuilt, more chess is played, friendships are formed, intrigues grow, and the Wandering Inn… moves.

The monster known as Skinner has been destroyed, but the battle still lingers for Erin as she deals with the loss of so much, including the adventurers—the Horns of Hammerad—both she and Ryoka have befriended. Yet even with so much death, life must go on, including Ryoka and Erin finding out they have one very important thing in common: They’re both from the real world.

Even more: they’re not the only ones.

But as much as they want to find others like them, they both also need to survive. The first thing they need is money, especially after the Wandering Inn, um… accidentally explodes. So Ryoka takes on bigger runners’ assignments and Erin… makes hamburgers.

They also need to level up (at least, in Erin’s case) and get stronger, because winter is here, bringing with it new monsters, annoying snow sprites, and a dark legend reborn.

Every day is a new adventure in the Innverse, but no matter what, there’s still time for chess.

This audiobook edition of The Wandering Inn includes both Fae and Fae (Book 2, Part 1) and Immortal Games (Book 2, Part 2)—newly published as individual books in ebook and print.

Erin and Ryoka are still annoying and one-dimensional as ever, but the other growing cast of characters are brilliant. The plot and subplots thickened, which keeps you guessing where it all going.

Great cast of characters & worldbuilding

Wow, seriously! I like to get my credits worth, 60+ hours for a so-so series is fine, you get character development, some new and interesting developments and a conclusion to an interesting story, I listened to volume one and was amazed by the world and the emotion, reality and depth. So when volume two came out I was worried that the creative spark was going to fizzle out.

NO, This is better than the first! and over 60 hours the characters progress in a believable way without having to invent a whole load of extra backstory and shoe horn it in, They deal with problems great and small, each their own character not just an NPC to do some stuff and die heroically/moronically.

That is without going into Andrea Parsneau's incredible narration, doing each of the races justice.

Excellent stuff, comedy with genuine horror, fantasy mixed with physics, sophisticated without being demanding.

I'm finding this series as the title says, enjoyable, but it has its sad moments, some topics for reflection, and times where you chickle out loud.
At no time do you feel that it's dragging, unless you have to go back to re-listen something multiple times because you are not paying attention. Obviously this has nothing to do with the book :)
Will wait a week (maybe) before I listen to the next book.

Very enjoyable

As good as the first book, maybe even better, the stakes are certainly higher and it's kind of like the Harry Potter series, this book feels more serious, a little darker, and foreshadowing some major events on the horizon. I love this world that the author has built. It's fascinating. I look forward to reading the rest.
