Captivating and action-packed, From Blood and Ash is a sexy, addictive, and unexpected fantasy perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Laura Thalassa.

A Maiden...

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

A Duty...

The entire kingdom’s future rests on Poppy’s shoulders, something she’s not even quite sure she wants for herself. Because a Maiden has a heart. And a soul. And longing. And when Hawke, a golden-eyed guard honor bound to ensure her Ascension, enters her life, destiny and duty become tangled with desire and need. He incites her anger, makes her question everything she believes in, and tempts her with the forbidden.

A Kingdom...

Forsaken by the gods and feared by mortals, a fallen kingdom is rising once more, determined to take back what they believe is theirs through violence and vengeance. And as the shadow of those cursed draws closer, the line between what is forbidden and what is right becomes blurred. Poppy is not only on the verge of losing her heart and being found unworthy by the gods, but also her life when every blood-soaked thread that holds her world together begins to unravel.

The quality of a full cast narration is fastly superior to a single narrator one. Still, the quality of the audio was not the best. It's such a shame that during many of the dialogues it sounded like the voices were coming from the end of a tunnel, they had a muffled quality to them that was not nice at all. If it wasn't for that the audiobook would have been perfection.
The story is always going to be great and I'm one of those die hard fans, so i had to have this version as well. Yet, I dont think 1/2 a book is worth 1 entire credit. so will wait for a sale before purchasing the rest.

audio quality questionable

The very first review of this title criticising the voice of the main male character stopped me for a long while from getting this title. This was a mistake. DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE STOPPED BY ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS. GET THIS TITLE IMMEDIATELY. You will thank me later. Yes, at the beggining the whole story and actors voices might seem over the top, overdone and naive. But as you progress, it all starts making sense. The story itself is fantastically written, and the performance grows on you (particularly loved the main female voice). Let yourself be swept away and submerged. Next books get even better. Just go for it ;)

Do not hesite to get this title! (5/5)

Better than ACOTAR by a country mile!! Didn’t expect it but it is. Exceptional cast and the story is actually very good

Outstanding!

I’m not going to go into my thoughts on the story itself, as I’m sure the majority of us are listening to this after having already listened to the original audiobook (or reading the books).

I did really enjoy this adaptation of FBAA. I loved how much more immersive it felt, and made the characters and scenes really come alive.

There were a few pronunciations that differed from what was used in the original audiobook and also from how I myself pronounced things when reading the books that felt a little jarring (Carsodonia and Masadonia being the main ones). I’m not sure if it’s a case of the previous audiobook being wrong or this one, but either way at this point I’m so used to the other audio that the differing pronunciations in this one feel wrong. I’m not gonna hold it against them (too much) because things like this always tend to happen, but I do wish that they’d try to keep things consistent throughout the different mediums.

I also really wish they’d set it out in chapters rather than parts. How am I supposed to know which part my favourite scenes are in if they don’t match with the chapters in the book??

Overall, I think this is good. I think I’ll still find myself going back to the other versions for my rereads, but this is still a nice treat every now and then.

A great listen
