Summary

‘Classic Lynda, a fabulous read’ MARTINA COLE

‘Lynda La Plante practically invented the thriller’ KARIN SLAUGHTER

From the creator of the award-winning ITV series Prime Suspect, starring Helen Mirren, comes the fascinating back story of the iconic DCI Jane Tennison.

When WPC Jane Tennison is promoted to the role of Detective Constable in London’s Bow Street CID, she is immediately conflicted. While her more experienced colleagues move on swiftly from one criminal case to another, Jane is often left doubting their methods and findings.

As she becomes inextricably involved in a multiple rape case, Jane must put her life at risk in her search for answers.

Will she toe the line, or endanger her position by seeking the truth?

from start to finish I enjoyed this book. I was unaware of the early days of Jane's police career

From the start this book kept me wanting more, I just had to keep going. Extremely well read, and a very interesting plot. Really well worth the read/listen.

Really gripping book

The story is good as is the performance other than the accent and words of Maria. She is Filipino not ‘Asian’ with poor stereotyping of an ‘Asian’ speaking almost ‘pigeon English’ - it was most irritating as it showed an unwelcome cultural ignorance by the author. I’m not Filipino but have met many Filipino workers here in Hong Kong and ALL of them speak excellent English- a bit of basic research would’ve helped.

Filipino accent all wrong.... annoying

Enjoy seeing Tennisons career evolve but narrators accents are almost laughable at times which really detracts from the story.

Good but terrible accents off-putting
