Welcome back to The Marathon Podcast. On this episode, we have Jeff Stern on to discuss his career and Suunto. At the end of last year, Jeff stepped into the role as Head of Sports Marketing at Suunto, after years of being a great athlete himself. We chat about his achievements as a bike racer, marathoner, and ultra runner, how this has shaped him, how he got to where he is, and how he is now working to get Suunto to new heights.
Suunto is 90 years old this year, and has a history of making quality products. With signings like Clayton Young, Zouhair Talbi, Emma Grace Hurley, and Charles Hicks, Suunto is really making a move into the world of road running. So what makes the watches and products of Suunto stand out? And what model is the right one for you?

Welcome back to The Marathon Podcast. On this episode we have Dani Barrett on. This is how she describes herself as a racer:

Just like any runner, I have good and bad races, but the common denominator is that I bring an attitude of seizing the opportunity to race to every start line. Remembering that racing is the fun part is a key to success, and I’ve had my best days when I enter with this mindset! Some racing highlights for me have been the NCAA Track and Field National Championships, where I finished as the 11th-fastest 10k runner in the nation with a time of 33:07 and became a Division 1 All-American. I also ran my first marathon in December of 2025 and qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2:34. I can’t wait to run another one! Some other highlights have been becoming an NCAA Conference Champion in the 5k and 10k, and a collegiate team title in cross country.

In all my best races, I used tools I learned working with a Sports Psychologist that I want to share with the athletes I coach! If you want to learn all of the mental preparation, visualization, race planning, and journaling techniques that have gotten me these results, let’s work together!

Welcome back to The Marathon Podcast. On this episode we have Francesco Ranchi on, and here's what he posted on reddit a few days ago:

Started running 8 months ago when I was 130kg (but back then I wasn’t running I could only walk ), now I dropped to 87kg with pure hard work and training and 2 days ago I managed to run my first marathon here in Trieste!

I only ran 21km during training as time was really tight for me. The first half was as predicted reaching the half marathon in 2 hours and 15 minutes, I then stopped at an aid station where there was a good looking lady and drank too much and ate too many bananas and apples while having a chat with her…never regretted having talked to a girl this much… threw up after 1km, got to the next aid station really dehydrated and from then on everything I would eat/drink I would throw up. Ran the last 21km in 4 hours with terrible cramps, headaches. Walked for 10km but somehow I got a second wind and was able to run at 8min/km for the remaining 12km. Threw up about 6 times in the last 21km, including the exact moment where I crossed the finish line at 6 hours 30 seconds (officially arrived last out of 600), and I even got live in the local news while throwing up my soul crossing the finish line , but coming where I came from physically and mentally, I’m proud I pushed trough and did what once I was convinced to be impossible.
