Fort Mojave, CA—Ft. Mojave citizens woke horrified this morning to learn that they discovered nineteen bodies in a nearby compound. The alleged victims are possibly members of a religious cult known for mass suicides. Investigations are ongoing. FBI Agent Nash Running Bear has more important things to focus on than the daily media frenzy. That is, until her work takes her to Fort Mojave, and an anonymous caller on a talk radio, claims that what appears to be a suicide pact is actually something much worse—a mass murder.

Nash is okay with things staying simple and small-town, until the person of interest shows up in a city of seven million, with old friends and older scores to settle. And then the war begins.

A shooting in New York is a daily occurrence—unless it's an upscale elderly woman in a high-end car. Then maybe not daily. Nash is taking care of other business, like presenting a class at Quantico for Women in Federal Law Enforcement group members. The lessons taught take on extra meaning when another killing is brought up. This one is rural in Upstate New York. And it wasn't a hunting accident.

An old buddy reaches out to Nash from the other side, through her spirit world. He's desperate for her help to track down his granddaughter. Nash, not fully convinced it wasn't just a figment of her sleep-deprived mind, initiates a deep dive in the dead of night. But this time, it was bypassing her usual routes. The Feds have her back on New Mexico soil with an armored truck heist mission, but it's got a devilish twist. All leads hit dead ends, unraveling into events she never saw coming. The heist reeks of terrorist tactics—too much like another sandbox in her past.
